How to Make Gold in Minecraft
Gold
Gold is the shaped gold material of Industrial Craft 2, hammered from Gold Ingots and cut into Gold Cables for scanners and reactor components.
Description
Cutting turns Gold into wiring: one Gold plus one Cutter produces four Gold Cables, tier 3 lines rated for 512 EU per tick that lose 0.4 EU per block. Machine recipes spend the metal in fixed doses — two units on a Scanner, three on an Advanced Scanner, four on a Component Heat Exchanger, and four more on an Overclocked Heat Vent. Five redstone in the corners and center around four gold units crafts one Glowstone Dust, a vanilla resource reproduced at a crafting table instead of the Nether. Players wiring a high-voltage room should hammer a stock of Gold first and cut cables only as the layout demands.
Guide
How to Get and Use Gold in Industrial Craft 2
-
1
Hammer a Gold Ingot flat
Place one Gold Ingot and one Forge Hammer anywhere in the crafting grid; the shapeless recipe returns one Gold and even works in the 2x2 inventory grid.
-
2
Press nine Small Gold piles together
Fill every cell of a 3x3 crafting grid with Small Gold piles to merge nine piles into one Gold when ore processing leaves only crumbs.
-
3
Cut four Gold Cables
Combine one Gold with one Cutter to slice four Gold Cables, the tier 3 wiring that carries up to 512 EU per tick.
-
4
Craft Glowstone Dust at a table
Set five redstone in the corners and center of the grid and four Gold on the edges; the recipe yields one Glowstone Dust without a Nether trip.
-
5
Feed the gold-hungry machines
Spend two Gold on a Scanner, three on an Advanced Scanner, or four each on a Component Heat Exchanger and an Overclocked Heat Vent.
Industrial Craft 2 never generates silver ore: purified crushed gold ore sent through the third ore-processing stage drops a Tiny Pile of Silver Dust beside the gold dust, the mod's single silver source.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get Gold in Industrial Craft 2?
Press one Gold Ingot against a Forge Hammer in a crafting grid to hammer out one Gold, or fill a 3x3 grid with nine Small Gold piles. Both recipes yield exactly one Gold.
How many Gold Cables does one Gold make?
One Gold cut with a Cutter produces four Gold Cables — tier 3 wiring that carries up to 512 EU per tick and loses 0.4 EU per block.
Can Gold be split back into Small Gold piles?
No. Nine Small Gold piles merge into one Gold, but the merge is one-way; small piles cannot be recovered afterwards, unlike ingots taken back out of a Block of Gold.
Which machines need Gold in Industrial Craft 2?
The Scanner takes two Gold, the Advanced Scanner takes three, and the Component Heat Exchanger and Overclocked Heat Vent take four each. The official wiki also names the MFE as a gold consumer.
How do I craft Glowstone Dust from Gold?
Arrange five redstone in the corners and center of a crafting grid with four Gold on the edges; the output is one Glowstone Dust, glowstone earned without the Nether.
Is there silver ore in Industrial Craft 2?
No. IC2 world generation places no silver ore, so silver only appears as a Tiny Pile of Silver Dust when gold ore passes through the third stage of ore processing.
