Description

The Forge Hammer is an early-game IndustrialCraft 2 tool that shapes metal ingots into plates without any powered machine. Players craft the Forge Hammer from five iron ingots and two sticks, giving the tool 80 uses before it breaks. Placed in the crafting grid next to a metal ingot, the Forge Hammer flattens that ingot into a matching plate, and two plates of the same metal become an item casing. These are the exact outputs a Metal Former produces in rolling mode, so the Forge Hammer is the standard way to make plates before you can build a Metal Former. Iron, gold, copper, tin and bronze plates all come from this tool, and those plates feed dozens of IndustrialCraft 2 machine, cable and casing recipes. An undamaged Forge Hammer is also a reusable component in the Industrial Workbench and Batch Crafter recipes, where it is returned after crafting. Keep a spare Forge Hammer in your toolbox, because every plate or casing you press costs one durability point from its 80 uses.

IndustrialCraft 2 Guide

How to use the Forge Hammer in IndustrialCraft 2

  1. 1

    Craft the Forge Hammer

Place five iron ingots and two sticks in the crafting grid to forge one Forge Hammer with 80 durability.

  2. 2

    Press metal plates

Put the Forge Hammer next to any metal ingot in the crafting grid to flatten that ingot into a matching plate.

  3. 3

    Stamp item casings

Combine the Forge Hammer with two metal plates of the same type to produce two item casings.

  4. 4

    Track durability

Each press removes one of the hammer's 80 uses, so craft a replacement before the Forge Hammer wears out.

Upgrade tip

The Forge Hammer makes the same outputs as a Metal Former in rolling mode, so once you build a Metal Former you can automate plate production and retire the hand tool.
