Description

Charging RE-Battery is a portable recharger from Industrial Craft 2 that automatically refills electric items carried in a player's inventory. A 40,000 EU reserve (EU is Industrial Craft 2's unit of energy) at power tier 1 (LV) means only tier-1-or-lower gear — the Chainsaw, Electric Wrench, Electric Hoe, or Batpack — recharges on the go. Right-clicking with Charging RE-Battery in hand cycles three modes: Disabled stops all charging, Charge Items not in Hand fills the action bar (the hotbar) except the held item, and Enabled adds the held item.

Crafting takes four Electronic Circuits in the corners and four RE Batteries in a cross around an empty center, one Charging RE-Battery per craft. BatBox, CESU, MFE, and MFSU all recharge a drained Charging RE-Battery — every Industrial Craft 2 storage block of tier 1 or higher qualifies. Two limits from the mod apply: charging items never charge each other, and equipped armor receives nothing until the piece sits in the action bar. One Charging RE-Battery also sits at the center of the tier-2 charging battery recipe, the 400,000 EU upgrade step.

Guide

How to craft and use a Charging RE-Battery in IC2

  1. 1

    Gather the ingredients

Collect four Electronic Circuits and four RE Batteries for one Charging RE-Battery.

  2. 2

    Lay out the 3x3 recipe

Place Electronic Circuits in the four corners and RE Batteries in the top, left, right, and bottom cells, then leave the center empty.

  3. 3

    Charge the recharger

Insert the Charging RE-Battery into the charging slot of a BatBox, CESU, MFE, or MFSU and wait for the full 40,000 EU.

  4. 4

    Pick a charging mode

Right-click with Charging RE-Battery in hand to cycle Disabled, Charge Items not in Hand, and Enabled.

  5. 5

    Carry and top up

Keep Charging RE-Battery in the inventory so tier-1 tools such as the Chainsaw and Electric Wrench refill automatically between uses.

Tip

Switch to Disabled before storage: all charging stops and the 40,000 EU reserve stays inside the battery instead of draining into other items.

Frequently asked questions

How much EU does a Charging RE-Battery hold?

40,000 EU at power tier 1 (LV) — four times the 10,000 EU of a single RE Battery.

Where does a drained Charging RE-Battery refill?

In a BatBox, CESU, MFE, or MFSU — storage blocks of tier 1 or higher, because charging items cannot draw from storage below their own tier.

Can two Charging RE-Batteries recharge each other?

No. Charging items never charge one another, and a Charging RE-Battery keeps working from either the inventory or the action bar.

Does a Charging RE-Battery charge worn armor?

No. Equipped armor receives nothing until the piece sits in the action bar like any other item.

What separates an RE Battery from a Charging RE-Battery?

An RE Battery is a plain 10,000 EU storage cell, while a Charging RE-Battery stores 40,000 EU and automatically refills carried items of tier 1 or lower.

What comes after the Charging RE-Battery?

The tier-2 charging battery built around one Charging RE-Battery holds 400,000 EU and adds tier-2 items such as the Diamond Drill to the charge list.
