Field Guide
How to use the Batpack in IndustrialCraft 2
-
1
Acquire the recipe materials
Prepare rubber, RE-Batteries and insulated tin cable to craft the Batpack at a Crafting Table using the IC2 recipe.
-
2
Equip the Batpack
Put the Batpack in the chestplate armor slot; this replaces any vanilla chestplate for the duration.
-
3
Carry a Tier 1 electric tool
Keep a compatible low-tier device like the Mining Drill or Electric Treetap somewhere in your hotbar so the Batpack can charge it.
-
4
Use tools normally
Mine, harvest or wrench as usual; the Batpack continuously transfers EU into the active tool until either tool or pack is empty.
-
5
Recharge the Batpack
Right-click the Batpack into a Batbox, MFE, MFSU or any Tier 1 charging slot — never feed it Medium or High Voltage.
The Batpack is a Tier 1 device. Hooking it directly to Medium Voltage (128 EU/t) or higher will destroy it. Use a Transformer to step down power if needed.

Frequently asked questions
How much energy does the Batpack store?
60,000 EU at Tier 1, which is roughly the same as six fully charged RE-Batteries.
Does the Batpack charge tools in my inventory too?
No. It only charges compatible electric tools located in the hotbar, not in the main inventory.
Can I wear Diamond armor and the Batpack at the same time?
Not in the same slot. The Batpack occupies the chestplate slot, so it replaces a vanilla chestplate; helmet, leggings and boots stay free.
What happens if I feed it Medium Voltage?
Tier 1 devices explode or are destroyed when fed Medium Voltage (128 EU/t) or higher. Always use a Batbox or a step-down Transformer.
Is the Batpack better than just carrying RE-Batteries?
Yes for long mining trips, because the Batpack auto-recharges hotbar tools without manual swapping, saving an inventory slot and time.
