How to get Flint in Minecraft
-
1
Find gravel
Look for gravel on beaches, riverbeds, cave floors, and throughout the Nether, where it generates in large patches.
-
2
Mine the gravel
Break gravel blocks with any tool; a shovel is fastest. Hold the block from below or place a torch under it so the falling gravel breaks instantly.
-
3
Collect the flint drop
Each gravel block has a 10% chance to drop one flint instead of gravel. Keep mining stacks of gravel to gather more.
-
4
Use Fortune for more flint
Mine gravel with a Fortune-enchanted shovel. Fortune III raises the flint drop chance to a guaranteed 100%.
Flint cannot be crafted or smelted. Gravel is the only source, so a Fortune III shovel is the most efficient way to farm large amounts.
