Description

Fletching Table is crafted from two flint and four planks of any wood type in the standard pattern: flint in the top two corners and planks filling the middle and bottom rows. Despite hints from Mojang across several updates that the device might one day allow custom arrow crafting, Fletching Table still has no functional crafting role beyond one purpose — serving as the workstation of the fletcher villager profession.

Placing a Fletching Table in a village without an existing fletcher recruits any unemployed adult villager into the role. Once employed, the fletcher trades arrows, bows, crossbows, and tipped arrows for emeralds, and master-level fletchers offer enchanted bows. Fletching Table shows a clean light-grey top textured with arrows and string, making it visually distinct in a kitchen-style village hall, and many builders place it purely for decoration. As fuel, Fletching Table smelts 1.5 items in a furnace — the same value as a single wooden plank.

How to use a Fletching Table in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the Fletching Table

Place 2 flint in the top two corners of the crafting grid and 4 planks of any wood across the middle and bottom rows to make one Fletching Table.

  2. 2

    Place it near a village

Set the Fletching Table on the ground inside a village, within pathfinding range of an unemployed adult villager that has no job site.

  3. 3

Let a villager claim the job

Wait for a jobless villager to walk up to the Fletching Table; green particles appear and the villager becomes a fletcher wearing a feathered cap.

  4. 4

    Trade for arrows and bows

Right-click the fletcher to open its trades and buy arrows, bows, crossbows, and tipped arrows for emeralds, unlocking enchanted bows at master level.

Important

Players cannot craft anything at the Fletching Table itself — right-clicking it opens no interface. Its only gameplay function is the fletcher job site; breaking it unassigns the villager.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Fletching Table do in Minecraft?

Fletching Table assigns the fletcher profession to a nearby unemployed villager. It has no player-usable crafting menu of its own.

How do you craft a Fletching Table?

Combine 2 flint and 4 planks of any wood type in a crafting grid: flint in the top two corners, planks filling the middle and bottom rows.

Can you use a Fletching Table as fuel?

Yes. Fletching Table smelts 1.5 items in a furnace, the same fuel value as a single wooden plank.

Why won't my villager become a fletcher?

The villager must be an unemployed adult with no current job site, and the Fletching Table must be unclaimed and within pathfinding range.

Does the Fletching Table have any other use?

Not yet. Mojang has hinted at future arrow-crafting features, but for now Fletching Table only works as a fletcher job site or decoration.
