Fishing Rod
Fishing Rod catches fish, treasure, and entities with a simple sticks-and-string recipe.
Description
Beyond fishing, the hook can tug mobs, boats, minecarts, and other entities, making it useful in minigames and playful utility setups. Luck of the Sea improves treasure odds, Lure shortens wait time, and Mending can keep a strong tool alive for a long time. It also crafts carrot-on-a-stick and warped-fungus-on-a-stick variants.

How to use a Fishing Rod in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the fishing rod
Place 2 string and 3 sticks in a diagonal pattern on the crafting grid to make one Fishing Rod.
-
2
Cast the line into water
Hold the Fishing Rod and right-click (use item) while facing open water; the bobber flies out and lands on the surface.
-
3
Wait for a bite
Watch the bobber: a trail of particles moves toward it, then the bobber dips below the surface with a splash sound.
-
4
Reel in the catch
Right-click again the instant the bobber sinks to reel in fish, junk, or treasure. Each successful catch costs 1 durability.
A Fishing Rod has 64 uses. Lure shortens the wait between bites, Luck of the Sea raises treasure odds, and Mending repairs it with fishing XP.
