Description

Tempered Iron Chestplate is the torso piece of the four-piece tempered-iron armor set from the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition, Fabric or NeoForge). It grants 6 armor points — the same as a vanilla iron chestplate — but lasts 272 hits instead of 240 (+13%), adds 1.0 toughness and enchants better, with an enchantability of 12 against iron's 9. Together the helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots give 15 armor points, and the chestplate contributes the single largest share.

Craft a Tempered Iron Chestplate at any workbench from eight tempered iron ingots laid out in the vanilla chestplate pattern: two ingots in the top corners, then two full rows of three below. Tempered iron itself is smelted from ordinary iron ingots in a furnace or blast furnace, so the set stays renewable through iron golem farms. Repair the chestplate on an anvil with tempered iron — regular iron will not work. Rare wild zombies and skeletons also spawn wearing this armor (about 4% and 2.5% respectively) and drop it at the vanilla rate of 8.5% per Looting level.

How to get a Tempered Iron Chestplate in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Smelt tempered iron

Place iron ingots in a furnace or blast furnace to turn each one into a tempered iron ingot — the base material of the whole tempered-iron armor set.

  2. 2

    Craft at a workbench

On a 3x3 crafting grid, place eight tempered iron ingots in the vanilla chestplate pattern: two ingots in the top corners, then full rows of three across the middle and bottom.

  3. 3

    Equip the chestplate

Put the Tempered Iron Chestplate in your chest armor slot for 6 armor points, 272 durability and 1.0 toughness — a direct upgrade over the iron chestplate.

  4. 4

    Repair on an anvil

When durability drops, combine the chestplate with tempered iron ingots on an anvil; regular iron ingots will not repair tempered-iron armor.

No Bedrock version

Ala Industrial runs only on Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition, identically on Fabric and NeoForge; the Tempered Iron Chestplate does not exist in Bedrock Edition.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft a Tempered Iron Chestplate?

Place eight tempered iron ingots on a 3x3 workbench grid in the vanilla chestplate pattern — two ingots in the top corners and full rows of three across the middle and bottom.

Is the Tempered Iron Chestplate better than iron?

Yes. It gives the same 6 armor points but has 272 durability instead of 240, adds 1.0 toughness and raises enchantability from 9 to 12.

How do you repair tempered-iron armor?

On an anvil with tempered iron ingots, through the mod's tempered_iron_armor_materials tag. Regular iron ingots do not work.

Can zombies or skeletons drop this chestplate?

Rarely. Wild zombies spawn wearing the set with about a 4% chance and skeletons with about 2.5%, and equipped armor then drops at the vanilla rate of 8.5% per Looting level.

Is the Tempered Iron Chestplate renewable?

Yes. Tempered iron is smelted from plain iron ingots, and iron is renewable through iron golem or villager farms.

Does it work on Fabric and NeoForge?

Yes — Ala Industrial targets Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition on both loaders, and the chestplate behaves identically on each. There is no Bedrock Edition version.
