Description
Poor Slag is an item from the Ala Industrial mod — the lowest of the three slag grades the Recycler casts from ground junk. The LV machine grades every full batch of 64 mass units by variety, not by volume: when a single fraction — mineral, metal or burnable — takes 80% of the batch or more, the cast comes out as Poor Slag. Sixteen cobblestone blocks at 4 mass units each fill a whole batch alone and pay exactly this ballast, while an honest mix of the three fractions casts Slag or Rich Slag instead. Ala Industrial is a mod for Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition that runs on both Fabric and NeoForge, and besides the Recycler cast the only other source of Poor Slag is unpacking a Block of Slag.
Poor Slag has exactly two uses. Nine Poor Slag items fill a 3x3 crafting grid into one Block of Slag, and the block unpacks shapelessly back into nine, so storage compression loses nothing in either direction. Four Poor Slag items plus two Double Carbon Rods are fired in the Alloy Smelter into one Carbon Briquette, at 1200 EU and 7.5 seconds per run. The grade only sets the price of that firing — ordinary Slag needs two pieces and Rich Slag just one for the same briquette — so sorting junk in the Recycler batch pays off directly in the ceramic chain. A cobblestone farm feeding a Recycler turns into a steady Poor Slag line, and the Slag Block stacks that stream into compact storage.

Run the Recycler on a single junk type
Install blades in the Recycler and feed the LV machine only one kind of waste — cobblestone, dirt or planks. The machine grinds one item every 40 ticks (2 seconds) and draws 8 EU/t while working.

Push one fraction past 80%
Each ground item adds mass to the batch, and a block gives 4 units. When the counter reaches 64 mass units with one fraction at 80% or more, the Recycler casts Poor Slag — 16 cobblestone blocks fill a whole batch alone.

Compress nine pieces into a Slag Block
Arrange nine Poor Slag items in a 3x3 grid on any crafting table to get one Block of Slag. The shapeless reverse recipe returns nine Poor Slag items whenever the pieces are needed again.

Fire a Carbon Briquette with Poor Slag
Load the Alloy Smelter with two Double Carbon Rods and four Poor Slag items. One run costs 1200 EU and 7.5 seconds and pays one Carbon Briquette — the entry into the mod's ceramic chain.
Important
The Recycler destroys everything it is given, valuables included — there is no filter by design. Poor Slag is the lowest grade: mixing mineral, metal and burnable waste in one batch upgrades the same 64 mass units into Slag or Rich Slag.

Does the Slag Block give the items back?
Yes. One Block of Slag crafts back into nine Poor Slag items with a shapeless recipe, so compressing for storage loses nothing in either direction.
