Description

Stone Scythe is the second of the eight material tiers in Ala Industrial's scythe line for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition): one right-click mows a flat 3×3 patch up to three blocks tall, cutting up to 18 plants per swing. Stone Scythe uses the vanilla stone tool material: the durability bar holds 131 points, and every actually broken plant costs exactly one — grass wears it down the same as leaves. A plain right-click clears decorative foliage — leaves, grass, flowers, ferns, mushrooms, vines, saplings — and each block drops its normal hand-broken loot, so Fortune and Silk Touch both apply. Holding Shift switches Stone Scythe into harvest mode: only mature crops are cut — wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot and ripe sweet berry bushes, plus cactus and sugar cane above their base — while unripe seedlings keep growing.

Stone Scythe is crafted at a workbench from three cobblestone and two sticks in a custom shape unlike the vanilla hoe, and repairs with cobblestone at an anvil. Cobblestone generators and tree farms make both ingredients infinite, so Stone Scythe is fully renewable — and the cheapest tier with a seed bonus: in harvest mode every cut of a true crop (wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot) has a 5% chance to drop one bonus seed, a roll independent of Fortune that stacks on top; the wooden scythe grants none, and the chance shows on the item tooltip. Stone Scythe takes Efficiency, Unbreaking, Fortune, Silk Touch and Mending like a hoe, and Efficiency does not speed up the area sweep. Stone Scythe draws no EU and belongs to no energy tier: it is a pure hand tool, identical on Fabric and NeoForge, reaching one block deeper than the Wooden Scythe (3×2, 12 blocks) and just under the Copper Scythe (24 blocks, 8%).

How to use the Stone Scythe in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the Stone Scythe

Combine three cobblestone and two sticks at a workbench in the custom scythe shape: two cobblestone across the top row, a stick and a cobblestone in the middle row, and one stick directly below that stick. The recipe appears in the recipe book as soon as you pick up cobblestone.

  2. 2

Mow foliage with a plain right-click

Right-click a plant from the main hand and Stone Scythe clears a flat 3×3 area three blocks tall of leaves, grass, flowers, ferns, mushrooms, vines and saplings. Every block drops its normal loot, exactly as if broken by hand, and crops are never touched in this mode.

  3. 3

    Harvest crops with Shift held

Hold Shift and right-click to switch Stone Scythe into harvest mode. Only fully mature crops are cut — wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot and ripe sweet berry bushes, plus cactus and sugar cane above their base — so unripe seedlings and melon or pumpkin stems are left untouched.

  4. 4

Enchant Stone Scythe like a hoe

Stone Scythe takes Efficiency, Unbreaking, Fortune, Silk Touch and Mending at the enchanting table and anvil. Fortune boosts the main drop while the 5% bonus-seed roll stacks on top of it, and Mending can refill the durability bar with collected XP.

  5. 5

    Watch the durability bar

Each of the 131 durability points covers one actually broken plant, and short grass wears the tool exactly like leaves. When Stone Scythe runs low, repair it with cobblestone at an anvil.

Stone Scythe limits

Stone Scythe is a hand tool with no EU power draw and no fire resistance — only the Netherite Scythe is fire-resistant. The 18-block cap per swing always applies, with blocks nearest to the click broken first.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft the Stone Scythe in Ala Industrial?

Place three cobblestone and two sticks in the custom scythe shape at a workbench — two cobblestone on top, a stick and a cobblestone in the middle row, one stick below. The recipe yields one Stone Scythe and unlocks in the recipe book when you pick up cobblestone.

What area does the Stone Scythe clear in one swing?

One right-click mows a flat 3×3 patch up to three blocks tall, with a cap of 18 blocks per swing. The Wooden Scythe covers only 3×2 with 12 blocks, so Stone Scythe reaches one block deeper and cuts half again as many plants.

Does the Stone Scythe destroy unripe crops?

No. A plain right-click only clears decorative foliage and never touches crops, and Shift plus right-click cuts only fully mature crops. Unripe seedlings and melon or pumpkin stems are always left to keep growing.

How does the Stone Scythe bonus seed chance work?

In harvest mode, each cut of a true crop — wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot or the torchflower crop — has a 5% chance to drop one extra seed. The roll is independent of Fortune and stacks with it, while berries, cactus and sugar cane never grant it, and the 5% chance is shown on the item tooltip.

How long does the Stone Scythe last?

The durability bar holds 131 points, and each actually broken plant costs exactly one — grass wears it down the same as leaves, so a fresh tool mows about 131 plants. Repair it with cobblestone at an anvil or refill it with the Mending enchantment.

Is the Stone Scythe renewable?

Yes. Stone Scythe is crafted from three cobblestone and two sticks, and both are renewable: a lava-and-water cobblestone generator yields endless cobblestone and tree farms yield endless sticks. Unlike the diamond and netherite tiers, Stone Scythe is a fully renewable tool.
