Description

Reactor Inlet is the only block that lets a fluid line cross the sealed shell of an Ala Industrial reactor: the room scanner counts Reactor Inlet as wall, so a pipe connects outside, another inside, and the controller still sees a formed room. Throughput is 50 mB per tick (1/20 of a second) in both directions — water in, steam out — and the same figure is the whole buffer: one tank of exactly one tick of flow, a hole in the wall rather than a reservoir. All six faces accept and give up any fluid, and the block never ticks by itself: the pipes on both sides do the moving. EU never crosses Reactor Inlet: a cable pressed to it stops at the wall as at Reactor Casing, because power leaves through the Reactor Outlet and the controller's five faces.
The buffer holds a single fluid at a time, so one inlet serves one direction: the water line and the steam line go through separate inlets. A room with one Reactor Column needs one inlet in and one out; a room pushed to the HV ceiling of 512 EU per tick needs six of each, twelve total, because no reactor room drinks more than 273 mB of water per tick. Every working room needs that water: while the reaction runs the shell sheds no heat, and a dry room climbs its heat gauge to an accident even on one column. Reactor Inlet is crafted on a vanilla crafting table from four Rubber, two Fluid Pipes, two Shielding Plates and one Reactor Casing, and a pickaxe is required for the drop. Hardness 5.0 and blast resistance 30.0 match the rest of the shell, and the mod runs on Fabric and NeoForge in Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition.

How to plumb a reactor with Reactor Inlet in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Craft the inlets

Place four Rubber in the corners, two Fluid Pipes top and bottom, two Shielding Plates on the sides and one Reactor Casing in the centre of a vanilla crafting table: the recipe yields one Reactor Inlet, and a fully plumbed HV room needs twelve.

  2. 2

Build the inlet into the shell

Set Reactor Inlet into the reactor wall in place of a casing block, not beside a hole: the controller's scanner counts the inlet itself as wall, so the room stays formed and sealed.

  3. 3

    Run the water line

Lay a Fluid Pipe from the Pump to an outer face of Reactor Inlet and a second pipe from the inner face to the columns: a wrench sets the outer pipe to extract and the inner one to insert, and the pair carries 50 mB per tick.

  4. 4

    Vent the steam line

Give the steam its own Reactor Inlet: a line from the column tops through a second inlet to a Steam Nozzle facing open air, because one inlet holds a single fluid at a time.

  5. 5

    Count the lines

A single-column room needs one inlet per direction; at the HV ceiling the count is six per side — a seventh line adds cost, not cooling, since no room drinks more than 273 mB of water per tick.

The wall is the bottleneck

Reactor Inlet and the Fluid Pipe run feeding it carry the same 50 mB per tick and count as one line. Every extra line costs another shell cell and another craft of four Rubber, so fix the number of inlets before closing the wall.

Frequently asked questions

Does Reactor Inlet carry EU as well as fluid?

No. A cable pressed against Reactor Inlet stops at the wall exactly as at Reactor Casing. Power leaves the room through the Reactor Outlet socket and five faces of the Reactor Controller.

Why does a reactor room need water through Reactor Inlet?

While the reaction runs, the shell sheds no heat, so water is the only coolant. A working room without water climbs its heat gauge all the way to an accident, even with a single column.

How many Reactor Inlets does a full reactor need?

A room with one column needs one inlet for water and one for steam. At the HV ceiling every room tops out at 273 mB of water per tick, which six inlets per direction carry with margin: twelve in total.

Can Reactor Inlet filter which fluid passes?

No. Reactor Inlet accepts any fluid on any of its six faces and in both directions. The water-only rule lives on the reactor column, which simply refuses a wrong fluid, so a mistaken line stalls instead of mixing.

What tool breaks Reactor Inlet?

A pickaxe, the only tool that drops the block. Hardness is 5.0 and blast resistance is 30.0, the same numbers as the rest of the shell, so the port is never the weakest point of the wall.

How much fluid does Reactor Inlet hold?

Exactly 50 mB — one tick of its own throughput. The buffer is a crossing, not a store: the pipe outside fills it, the pipe inside empties it, and breaking the inlet loses only that one tick of fluid.
