Description

Reactor Casing is the structural block of the nuclear reactor room in the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition: the walls, floor and ceiling of the shell that the Reactor Controller scans. Only seven block types count as shell — Reactor Casing, Reactor Glass (at most 30% of the shell), Reactor Lamp, the Reactor Airlock Door, the Reactor Inlet, the Reactor Outlet and the Reactor Controller itself — and every other block, plain stone and vanilla glass included, reads to the scanner as a hole. The interior may measure from 3×3×3 (a shell of 98 blocks) up to 12×12×12 (1016 blocks), and Reactor Casing is the only shell block free of placement rules: it fits any cell of any face, including the edges and corners where the door and the controller are not allowed.

One craft yields 8 Reactor Casing blocks from 6 Tempered Iron Plates, 2 Shielding Plates and 1 Machine Casing, so the mass of the wall is paid in cheap iron while the scarce palladium stays in the clever single pieces. The blast resistance of 30 is five times the 6 of the machine family, because the shell is what keeps a meltdown inside the room, and a pickaxe returns every block intact, so a small room can be taken apart and rebuilt larger with no loss. Reactor Casing neither conducts nor stores energy: a cable ends at the wall, and pipes cross it only through a Reactor Inlet. When the controller accepts the shell, the whole wall loses its seams and reads as one surface — the visible sign that the room is sealed. Ala Industrial runs on Fabric and NeoForge.

How to build a reactor room from Reactor Casing

  1. 1

    Craft the casing

Place 3 Tempered Iron Plates in the top row and 3 in the bottom row, 1 Machine Casing in the center, and 1 Shielding Plate on each side: one craft yields 8 Reactor Casing blocks.

  2. 2

    Mark the interior

Choose an axis-aligned box with an interior from 3×3×3 to 12×12×12: L-shaped and domed rooms fail the scan because the walls must run straight.

  3. 3

    Build the shell

Fill the walls, floor and ceiling with Reactor Casing, leaving cells for the Reactor Airlock Door at floor level, the controller in a vertical wall, and optionally glass (at most 30% of the shell), inlets and lamps.

  4. 4

    Seal the room

Close the last hole: the controller repaints the whole shell seamless, and any remaining breach is reported with its exact coordinates.

Dismantle without loss

Mine Reactor Casing with a pickaxe and the block drops itself, so a small room can be taken apart and rebuilt larger. The casing carries no energy: water pipes and cables cross the wall only through a Reactor Inlet.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft Reactor Casing?

One craft combines 6 Tempered Iron Plates, 2 Shielding Plates and 1 Machine Casing and yields 8 Reactor Casing blocks.

Which blocks count as reactor room shell?

Seven block types: Reactor Casing, Reactor Glass, Reactor Lamp, the Reactor Airlock Door, the Reactor Inlet, the Reactor Outlet and the controller. Glass is capped at 30% of the shell, the door and the controller are mandatory, and any other block reads as a breach.

How big can a reactor room be?

The interior ranges from 3×3×3 (98 shell blocks) to 12×12×12 (1016 shell blocks); only axis-aligned boxes are accepted.

Does Reactor Casing conduct energy?

No. Reactor Casing stores and transfers 0 EU: a cable ends at the wall, and fluids and power enter the room only through a Reactor Inlet.

Why does Reactor Casing have blast resistance 30?

The machine family sits at 6; the shell needs far more because it is the barrier that keeps a meltdown inside the room.

What is Reactor Casing made of?

Shielding alloy — palladium from Nether-only ore plus tempered iron. A minimum room spends about 19 palladium ingots in total, roughly 8 of them on the wall.
