Description

Raw Nickel is the unrefined metal chunk that a nickel ore block drops when mined with a stone pickaxe or better. Nickel is the scarcest and deepest metal in Ala Industrial: small ore veins generate between Y −32 and Y 20, deeper and rarer than silver, so Raw Nickel reaches the inventory only during deep mining. The Fortune enchantment multiplies the drop, Silk Touch returns the ore block itself, and a wooden or gold pickaxe shatters the ore with no drop at all. The metal is not renewable, because the ore generates only at world creation, and up to 64 pieces stack in one slot.

Two processing routes lead out of Raw Nickel. Smelting one piece in a vanilla furnace or blast furnace — or in the mod's Electric Furnace, which charges 200 EU per melt at 2 EU/t — produces a single Nickel Ingot. The richer route runs through the Macerator: grinding one Raw Nickel (or one whole ore block) costs 300 EU and returns 2 Nickel Dust, and each dust then smelts into its own ingot in the Electric Furnace, doubling the yield to two ingots per ore. Nickel Dust has no vanilla furnace recipe, so the doubled output depends on mod machines. Nickel already matters at the LV tier (low voltage, up to 32 EU/t): the ingot builds the Electronic Circuit together with silver, and that circuit is required for every machine and generator in the mod, including the two evolution chips that turn the solar panel and the wind mill into their reinforced T2 versions. At the MV tier nickel is planned as the alloy for machine casings and advanced circuits, and the mod's Industrialist villager already pays 1 emerald for 3 ingots.

How to turn Raw Nickel into ingots in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Mine nickel ore deep underground

Dig down between Y −32 and Y 20 and break nickel ore with a stone pickaxe or better. Each ore drops one Raw Nickel, the Fortune enchantment multiplies the count, and wooden or gold pickaxes drop nothing.

  2. 2

    Smelt the quick route

Place Raw Nickel in a furnace, a blast furnace, or the Electric Furnace. Every route returns one Nickel Ingot per piece; the Electric Furnace charges 200 EU per melt.

  3. 3

Double the yield in the Macerator

Grind each Raw Nickel in the Macerator for 300 EU to receive 2 Nickel Dust, then smelt each dust in the Electric Furnace for 200 EU. One ore now becomes two ingots.

  4. 4

    Spend the nickel

Craft Nickel Ingots into the Electronic Circuit together with silver. The circuit is required for every Ala Industrial machine and generator, including the day and night evolution chips for the reinforced T2 panels and wind mills.

Worth knowing

Silk Touch returns the ore block itself — macerate that block too, because it also grinds into 2 Nickel Dust. Re-grinding a finished ingot yields only 1 dust, so always double the raw form.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Raw Nickel come from?

Raw Nickel drops from nickel ore that Ala Industrial generates between Y −32 and Y 20. Mine the ore with a stone pickaxe or better; wooden and gold pickaxes destroy it without a drop.

Is it better to smelt or to macerate Raw Nickel?

Macerating wins. Smelting returns 1 Nickel Ingot per piece, while the Macerator turns one Raw Nickel into 2 Nickel Dust that smelt into two ingots — double the metal for 300 EU of grinding plus 200 EU per dust.

Can you smelt Raw Nickel in a vanilla furnace?

Yes. A furnace or blast furnace smelts one Raw Nickel into one Nickel Ingot, so the nickel line works before any machine is built. Nickel Dust, however, smelts only in the mod's Electric Furnace.

Is Raw Nickel renewable?

No. Nickel ore generates only at world creation in small deep veins, and nothing in the mod crafts or regrows Raw Nickel, so every piece is finite.

What is nickel used for in Ala Industrial?

Nickel Ingots build the Electronic Circuit, a component every machine and generator requires, plus the two evolution chips that upgrade the solar panel and wind mill to T2. The Industrialist villager also buys 3 ingots for 1 emerald.
