Nickel Dust is the Macerator output that doubles nickel ore into two smeltable dusts for Electronic Circuits and Alloy Smelter alloys.
Description
Smelting one Nickel Dust costs 200 EU in the Electric Furnace and returns exactly one nickel ingot; the Electric Furnace is the only smelter that accepts the dust, because Ala Industrial adds no vanilla furnace or blast furnace recipe for it. Those nickel ingots feed the Electronic Circuit — two ingots per circuit — and through it most machines and generators, plus the cupronickel and invar alloys from the Alloy Smelter and the nickel plates stamped in the Compressor. Because nickel is the scarcest of the mod's three companion metals (tin, silver, and nickel), macerating every ore block and raw drop instead of smelting it directly is the practical way to stretch a small find into a usable stockpile.

Mine nickel ore or raw nickel
Nickel is the rarest of the mod's three companion metals, so prospect deep underground; a stone pickaxe or better returns either a nickel ore block or a piece of raw nickel.

Macerate the ore into two dust
Place the nickel ore block or raw nickel in a Macerator. Each operation draws 300 EU over 150 ticks and outputs two Nickel Dust — twice what direct smelting would give.

Smelt each dust into an ingot
Put the Nickel Dust in an Electric Furnace. Each dust costs 200 EU at 2 EU per tick for 100 ticks and becomes one nickel ingot, so one ore block yields two ingots.

Spend the ingots on circuits, alloys, or plates
Use two nickel ingots to craft an Electronic Circuit, combine one with copper or iron in the Alloy Smelter for cupronickel or invar, or compress an ingot into a nickel plate for 260 EU.
Grinding an already-refined nickel ingot or nickel plate returns only one Nickel Dust, which prevents an infinite smelt-and-grind duplication loop.
