Description

Nickel Plate is the pressed form of a nickel ingot in Ala Industrial, and the worked shape nickel takes while it waits for the MV tier. Each Nickel Plate costs exactly one nickel ingot, converted one of two ways. By hand, combine the ingot with a Forge Hammer in a shapeless crafting recipe — the hammer stays in the grid and loses exactly 1 of its 128 durability. By machine, feed the ingot to a Compressor, an LV-tier press (low voltage, up to 32 EU per tick) that finishes one plate for 260 EU at 2 EU per tick. Both routes give one plate per ingot, so the real choice is hammer durability versus EU, never output.

Nickel is the scarcest of Ala Industrial's eight plate metals — ore veins sit deeper than silver's, near the bottom of the world, and a stone pickaxe or better is required for any drop. That rarity is why the Nickel Plate has no active crafting consumer today: nickel is held in reserve for the MV tier, where it will become the alloy behind MV machine casings and advanced circuits. Until those recipes ship, a Nickel Plate is a stockpile part — and a safe one, because the Macerator grinds one plate back into one nickel dust for 300 EU, and the dust smelts into an ingot again. Ala Industrial runs on Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition) with identical behavior on Fabric and NeoForge.

How to get a Nickel Plate in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Smelt a nickel ingot

Mine nickel ore deep underground — deeper than silver, near the bottom of the world — with a stone pickaxe or better. Smelt the raw nickel drop in a furnace for one ingot, or macerate the ore into 2 dust first and smelt each dust to double the yield. That ingot is what every Nickel Plate starts from.

  2. 2

    Stamp the plate by hand

Put a Forge Hammer and one nickel ingot anywhere in the 3x3 crafting grid. The shapeless recipe returns one Nickel Plate, and the hammer stays in the grid with 1 durability spent — a fresh hammer is good for 128 plates and repairs with iron ingots.

  3. 3

Or press the plate with EU

Feed nickel ingots to a Compressor: one ingot becomes one Nickel Plate for 260 EU, drawn at 2 EU per tick for 130 ticks. The Compressor is an LV machine, so any low-voltage energy source is enough to run it.

  4. 4

    Stockpile or recycle

No recipe consumes the Nickel Plate today, so keep a small stack ready for the MV tier. A Macerator grinds one plate back into one nickel dust for 300 EU, and the dust smelts into an ingot — net zero, no loss.

Reserved for MV

Nickel is the scarcest of Ala Industrial's plate metals and is held back for the MV tier, where it becomes the alloy for MV machine casings and advanced circuits. No recipe consumes the Nickel Plate right now, so treat it as a stockpile part — fully recyclable through the Macerator at no material loss.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make a Nickel Plate in Ala Industrial?

Craft one nickel ingot with a Forge Hammer in a shapeless recipe, or press the ingot in a Compressor for 260 EU. Both ways return exactly one Nickel Plate per nickel ingot.

Forge Hammer or Compressor — which route is better?

The yield is identical at one plate per ingot. The Forge Hammer spends 1 of its 128 durability per plate and needs no power, while the Compressor spends 260 EU — pick the hammer before your EU network exists and the machine after.

What is the Nickel Plate used for?

Today no recipe consumes it: nickel is reserved for the MV tier, where it will become the alloy for MV machine casings and advanced circuits. For now the Nickel Plate is a stockpile part you can hold onto.

Can you turn a Nickel Plate back into an ingot?

Yes. A Macerator grinds 1 Nickel Plate into 1 nickel dust for 300 EU, and the dust smelts back into a nickel ingot — the loop is net zero.

Is the Nickel Plate renewable?

No. Nickel ore is finite in a world, spawns in small veins deeper than silver, and requires a stone pickaxe or better, so every Nickel Plate traces back to mined ore.

Does the Nickel Plate work on Fabric and NeoForge?

Yes. Ala Industrial targets Minecraft 26.2 on both loaders with identical recipes and numbers, and the mod is Java Edition only — there is no Bedrock version.
