Oil
Oil is Ala Industrial's first fluid — finite lakes found in the world, drained with a bucket, a capsule or a pump, and never regenerated.
Also known as: crude oil
Description
Oil is the thickest fluid in the game: it spreads slower than lava, a spill runs about a third the length of a water one, and wading inside is heavily slowed — boats do not float, and holding jump surfaces at only about one block per second. Falling into Oil deals no fall damage, but breath drains underwater-style, so a dive is planned by air, not depth. Oil is flammable: neighboring fire or flint and steel ignites the pool block by block, while lava alone never does, and the mod's oilBurns setting (on by default) can make the liquid inert. The Polymerizer turns 1,000 mB of Oil plus 400 EU into raw rubber, and the Distillation Column splits a bucket into 700 mB of diesel and 200 mB of fuel oil — roughly 8,200 EU net per bucket through the liquid fuel generator.

How to find and collect Oil in Ala Industrial
-
1
Locate a deposit
Scan caves at Y −40…−8 for mine-depth lakes and Y −50…−30 for deep reservoirs; a one-to-three-block spout above ground marks an oil vein, found once per ~600 chunks.
-
2
Scoop Oil by hand
Right-click the fluid with an empty bucket or a Vacuum Capsule — one bucket holds 1,000 mB, and a pickaxe cannot harvest a liquid.
-
3
Drain with a Pump
Place a Pump next to the deposit and it empties every source block into its tank; Oil never regrows, so log the emptied lake as spent.
-
4
Process the haul
Feed 1,000 mB of Oil to the Polymerizer with 400 EU for raw rubber, or distill a bucket in the Distillation Column into 700 mB of diesel plus 200 mB of fuel oil.
Oil ignites from neighboring fire or flint and steel but never from lava; a solid one-block wall stops the burn, and disabling the oilBurns setting makes the fluid inert.

Frequently asked questions
Can you craft Oil in Ala Industrial?
No. Oil exists only as world generation — it can be neither crafted nor smelted, only scooped from natural lakes with a bucket, a Vacuum Capsule, or a Pump.
Is Oil renewable?
No. Every deposit is finite: each source block you remove is gone for good and never regenerates the way water does.
Does lava set Oil on fire?
No. Oil ignites only from fire or flint and steel; lava alone never lights it, so lakes generated next to lava lakes are safe.
Can you drown in Oil?
Yes. While your head is in Oil, breath drains as underwater, and surfacing with jump held rises only about one block per second — plan dives by air supply, not depth.
Where does Oil generate?
Across the whole Overworld in any biome: lakes at Y −40…−8, deep reservoirs at Y −50…−30, rare surface patches, and a vein once per ~600 chunks. The Nether, the End, and structures never contain Oil.
What is Oil used for?
The Polymerizer turns 1,000 mB of Oil into raw rubber for 400 EU, and the Distillation Column splits a bucket into 700 mB of diesel and 200 mB of fuel oil — about 8,200 EU net per bucket.
