Each Netherite Ingot requires four Netherite Scrap — smelted from ancient debris mined deep in the Nether around Y=15 — plus four gold ingots. The Netherite Chestplate provides 8 armor points, the same defense value as diamond, but adds 3 armor toughness and 10% knockback resistance, reducing how far enemies and explosions push the player. With 592 durability, the Netherite Chestplate outlasts the 528-point Diamond Chestplate.

Beyond raw protection, the Netherite Chestplate never burns when dropped in fire or lava, making it the safest gear to carry on Nether expeditions and deep-cave mining where lava pools are common. A full netherite set stacks knockback resistance to roughly 40%, letting players hold ground against skeletons, ravagers, and creeper blasts.
