Description

Weed-EX is an IndustrialCraft 2 agricultural fluid that prevents weeds from spawning on empty Crop Sticks in the Crops breeding system. The block form `ic2:weed_ex_still` is the static source fluid, placed in the world like a water source block, while the same liquid is normally stored and handled inside Universal Fluid Cells or fluid tanks. Weed-EX grants treated crops full resistance against weeds, which is essential when running large automated fields of Crop Sticks. IndustrialCraft 2 players craft Weed-EX on the crafting grid from one Redstone, one Grin Powder and one empty Universal Fluid Cell; the filled cell is applied by hand or loaded into a Crop-Matron.

Applying Weed-EX to crops comes with a permanent penalty: each treated Crop Stick has its stats capped at 10, and the damage cannot be reversed without destroying the crop. The Crop-Matron machine can apply Weed-EX automatically across a 9×9×3 area centered on the machine while consuming 1 EU per tick. Experienced players who breed high-stat crops therefore apply Weed-EX sparingly, or disable the Crop-Matron's herbicide function entirely, because the permanent stat cap ruins long breeding lines. IndustrialCraft 2 explicitly warns that overuse reduces crop quality.

Guide

How to use Weed-EX with IndustrialCraft 2 Crop Sticks

  1. 1

    Craft the Weed-EX cell

Craft Weed-EX on the crafting grid by combining one Redstone, one Grin Powder and one empty Universal Fluid Cell. The ic2:weed_ex_still block is the fluid's static source form, but the working supply comes from the crafted cell.

  2. 2

    Place Crop Sticks

Lay out empty Crop Sticks on farmland so each stick can hold a cultured crop that Weed-EX needs to protect from invading weeds.

  3. 3

    Apply Weed-EX manually

Right-click the Weed-EX spray item on a Crop Stick to give that crop full resistance against weeds for the duration of its growth.

  4. 4

    Automate with the Crop-Matron

Place a Crop-Matron within the 9×9×3 field and feed Weed-EX into the machine so the Crop-Matron applies the herbicide automatically while consuming 1 EU per tick.

  5. 5

    Skip Weed-EX for breeding

Leave Weed-EX out of the rotation when breeding high-stat crops, because the permanent stat cap at 10 ruins elite breeding lines and cannot be undone.

Permanent stat penalty

Weed-EX permanently caps the stats of any treated Crop Stick at 10, and the official IndustrialCraft 2 wiki warns that overuse reduces crop quality beyond recovery without destroying the crop.
