Description

The Single-Use Battery is the cheapest disposable EU storage item in IndustrialCraft 2 (IC2), holding exactly 1,200 EU before it is consumed. Place the Single-Use Battery in the battery slot of any IC2 electric tool such as a Mining Drill, Chainsaw, or Electric Wrench: the tool drains all 1,200 EU and the Single-Use Battery vanishes — there is no rechargeable mode. The Single-Use Battery cannot be inserted into a BatBox, MFE, or MFSU for recharging, which separates it from the standard RE-Battery. Crafted from 4 Redstone Dust and 1 Tin Ingot in a shapeless recipe, it is the go-to early-game power pack before a player has access to copper cable and a BatBox. The Single-Use Battery is available in IC2 Experimental for Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.12.2, and remains useful for emergency tool top-ups on long mining trips.

Java Edition Guide

How to use the Single-Use Battery in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather materials

Collect 4 Redstone Dust and 1 Tin Ingot — Tin is mined with a Stone Pickaxe at Y-levels 30-70 in IC2 1.7.10 / 1.12.2 worlds.

  2. 2

    Craft the battery

Place the 4 Redstone Dust and 1 Tin Ingot in a crafting grid in any layout to produce 1 Single-Use Battery (shapeless recipe).

  3. 3

    Insert into a tool

Open the inventory of a Mining Drill, Chainsaw, or Electric Wrench and drop the Single-Use Battery into its battery slot.

  4. 4

    Use the 1,200 EU

The tool consumes EU per action until the Single-Use Battery is empty, at which point the battery item is destroyed.

  5. 5

    Do not try to recharge

Never place the Single-Use Battery into a BatBox, MFE, or MFSU — it cannot be recharged and will simply sit there.

Frequently asked questions

How much EU does the Single-Use Battery store?

The Single-Use Battery stores exactly 1,200 EU before it is consumed and destroyed.

Can a Single-Use Battery be recharged?

No — the Single-Use Battery is not rechargeable in any IC2 storage block. Use an RE-Battery if you need to refill.

What tools accept the Single-Use Battery?

Any low-tier IC2 electric tool such as Mining Drill, Chainsaw, and Electric Wrench accepts the Single-Use Battery in its battery slot.

Is it worth crafting after BatBox is unlocked?

Usually no — once you can recharge an RE-Battery in a BatBox, the Single-Use Battery becomes a niche emergency option.
