Description

Charge Meter is an Industrial Craft 2 tool that measures the electric current passing through cables and energy storage devices. Charge Meter starts a measurement when the player clicks any cable or storage device, and a second click on the same cable displays the average EU/t together with the duration of the measurement in ticks (1/20 of a second each). The crafting recipe for one Charge Meter takes 4 Copper Cables, 1 Electronic Circuit, and 1 Glowstone Dust: the Glowstone Dust sits in the top middle of the grid, the Electronic Circuit in the center, and the cables fill the four side cells.

Sending too much current through a cable can cause a machine or storage device to explode, so the Charge Meter reading shows the real load before wiring gets dangerous. Players who check the flow before connecting new machines can plan maximum-efficiency layouts around verified numbers. No other crafting recipe uses the Charge Meter as an ingredient, so a single copy covers the whole energy network.

Guide

How to craft and use the Charge Meter in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

    Craft the meter

Place 4 Copper Cables, 1 Electronic Circuit, and 1 Glowstone Dust in a crafting table: the Glowstone Dust goes in the top middle, the Electronic Circuit in the center, and the cables fill the four side cells, producing 1 Charge Meter.

  2. 2

    Start a measurement

Hold the Charge Meter and click any cable or storage device in the energy network; the tool begins recording the current.

  3. 3

    Read the average

Click the same cable a second time to display the average EU/t and the length of the measurement in ticks (1/20 of a second each).

  4. 4

    Check before expanding

Compare the reading with the planned load before adding machines, because too much current through a cable can cause a machine or storage device to explode.

Why measuring pays off

The Charge Meter shows the real flow in a wire, which helps players plan maximum-efficiency Industrial Craft 2 layouts instead of guessing.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Charge Meter do in Industrial Craft 2?

The Charge Meter measures the electric current passing through cables and energy storage devices, reporting the average EU/t after two clicks.

How is the Charge Meter crafted?

One Charge Meter assembles from 4 Copper Cables, 1 Electronic Circuit, and 1 Glowstone Dust in a shaped crafting recipe.

Why measure EU/t at all?

Sending too much current through a cable can cause a machine or storage device to explode, and the Charge Meter reveals the actual load before that happens.

How does the Charge Meter report measurement time?

A second click on the measured cable shows the average EU/t together with the duration of the measurement in ticks.

Is the Charge Meter used in other crafting recipes?

No crafting recipe uses the Charge Meter as an ingredient, so the tool exists purely for taking measurements.
