Description
Iron Fences must be attached to the side of the Magnetizer, and a Magnetizer placed next to a fence turns toward the fence automatically; a Wrench changes the facing afterwards. Sneaking next to the fence carries a player downwards, and staying as close to the Iron Fence as possible avoids fall damage on the descent. The internal buffer stores 100 EU plus 15 EU per connected fence, and power above 32 EU per tick makes the Magnetizer explode. Magnetizers stack to 64, so a single inventory slot carries machines for several mine shafts and towers.

Craft the Magnetizer
Fill the left and right columns of a crafting table with six Redstone Dust, then set two Iron above and below one Machine Block in the center column.

Attach an Iron Fence column
Place the Magnetizer beside a column of Iron Fences: fences connect to the machine's side, and the block turns toward an adjacent fence automatically.

Wire the Magnetizer to a generator or energy network and keep the feed at 32 EU per tick or less, because higher input explodes the machine.

Ride upward in metal boots
Put on iron, gold, bronze, nano or quantum boots and stand next to the magnetized Iron Fence; the lift then draws 2 EU per tick and launches the player upward.
