How to Make Iron Turbine Rotor in Minecraft
Iron Turbine Rotor
Iron Turbine Rotor is the rotating heart of Industrial Craft 2 wind and water turbines, spinning for one full day before wearing out.
Description
Iron Turbine Rotor durability is 86,400 seconds — one full day of nonstop spinning — and the worn-out part has to be replaced, so turbine farms always stock spares. Wind above 75 MCW keeps the turbine running but burns rotor durability four times faster. In river, ocean, and deep ocean biomes the same Iron Turbine Rotor runs a Kinetic Water Generator fully submerged in water, a job the Wood Rotor cannot take at all. The Electric Boat recipe also spends one Iron Turbine Rotor together with three Copper Cables, four Iron, and one Electric Motor. For a mid-game grid, Iron Turbine Rotor is the balanced middle step between the short-lived Wood Rotor and the top-tier Carbon Rotor, and both rotor-driven turbines accept it.
Guide
How to Craft and Use the Iron Turbine Rotor in Industrial Craft 2
-
1
Craft 4 Iron Rotor Blades and 1 Iron Shaft
Iron Rotor Blades and the Iron Shaft are standard Industrial Craft 2 crafting components; the rotor recipe consumes exactly four blades and one shaft.
-
2
Assemble the plus-shaped recipe
Place the Iron Shaft in the center of the crafting grid and one Iron Rotor Blade above, below, left, and right of it; the four corners stay empty, and the grid yields one Iron Turbine Rotor.
-
3
Insert the rotor into a wind turbine
Open the Kinetic Wind Generator interface and put the Iron Turbine Rotor into the rotor slot; keep the 7-block rotor circle free of blocks and other turbines.
-
4
Check wind strength before committing
Measure the site with a Wind Meter: rotation starts at 14 MCW, wind above 75 MCW quadruples durability loss, below height 64 the wind never reaches the minimum, and the strongest winds blow near height 160.
-
5
Convert the rotation and plan maintenance
Set a Kinetic Generator next to the turbine to turn kinetic energy into EU, and stock spare rotors — after 86,400 seconds of spinning the Iron Turbine Rotor breaks.
A Kinetic Water Generator in a river, ocean, or deep ocean biome accepts the same Iron Turbine Rotor fully submerged in water, while the Wood Rotor cannot power the water turbine at all.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Iron Turbine Rotor compare with the Steel Rotor?
The Steel Rotor runs at 0.75 efficiency with a 17 MCW minimum wind and 2 days of durability. The Iron Turbine Rotor manages 0.5 efficiency, a 14 MCW minimum, and 1 day.
Does the Iron Turbine Rotor fit the Kinetic Steam Generator?
No. The Kinetic Steam Generator takes the separate Steam Turbine item, while the Iron Turbine Rotor only drives the wind and water kinetic generators.
What does the 'no room for the rotor' message mean?
A Kinetic Water Generator shows this message when the rotor is not fully covered by water. Place the machine in a river, ocean, or deep ocean biome with the whole rotor submerged.
How close can two wind turbines stand?
A turbine set directly behind another one blocks its rotor within 3 times the rotor radius. Arrange turbines in a line or a grid instead of one behind another.
Is the Iron Turbine Rotor used anywhere besides turbines?
Yes. The Electric Boat recipe takes one Iron Turbine Rotor together with three Copper Cables, four Iron, and one Electric Motor on the crafting grid.
