Empty Can
Empty Can is the disposable tin that the Canning Machine spends forever to press one Canned Ration out of any food in Ala Industrial.
Description
Every Canned Ration costs exactly one Empty Can: a 100-tick pressing cycle draws 200 EU and pours the banked food value into a ration with nutrition 8. The can is gone for good, and that permanent loss is what makes food duplication impossible. A full stack of 64 rations eats 40 Tin Plates — equal to 40 Tin Ingots or 20 tin ore crushed with doubling — so Empty Can is the mod's first mass consumer of tin. Tin itself stays renewable through the Incubator's duplicate mode (1 ingot into 2 at a 55% chance, 4000 EU per attempt), so a settled world never runs dry.

Guide
How to Get and Use Empty Cans in Minecraft
-
1
Craft a batch of cans
Place 1 glass pane in the top cell of a crafting grid, Tin Plates in the two middle side cells and the whole bottom row; one craft yields 8 Empty Cans.
-
2
Stock up on Tin Plates
Tin Plates are pressed by the Compressor from tin, and one batch of 8 Empty Cans always costs exactly 5 plates plus 1 glass pane.
-
3
Load the Canning Machine
Open the Canning Machine and drop Empty Cans into the bottom input slot; the food you want to press goes into the top slot.
-
4
Connect LV power
Feed the machine up to 32 EU/tick. Each pressing cycle runs 100 ticks, draws 200 EU, and turns one can into one Canned Ration.
-
5
Budget the tin drain
A stack of 64 rations consumes 40 Tin Plates — about 20 tin ore with Macerator doubling — so keep a tin vein or a duplicating Incubator running.
An Empty Can is spent the moment its ration is pressed, and eating a Canned Ration does not return the can — plan your tin supply accordingly.

Frequently asked questions
How do you craft an Empty Can in Ala Industrial?
Arrange 5 Tin Plates and 1 glass pane in a shaped bench recipe — pane on top, plates in the middle sides and the bottom row — to get 8 Empty Cans per craft.
What is the Empty Can used for?
It is the consumable container of the Canning Machine: pressing one Canned Ration spends exactly one Empty Can, permanently.
Is the Empty Can renewable?
Yes. Tin is duplicated by the Incubator's duplicate mode (1 ingot into 2 at a 55% chance, 4000 EU per attempt), and glass panes come from renewable traded sand.
Do you get the can back after eating a Canned Ration?
No. The can disappears the moment the ration is pressed; eating the ration returns nothing.
How much tin does a stack of Canned Rations cost?
Sixty-four rations burn 64 cans, equal to 40 Tin Plates, 40 Tin Ingots, or 20 tin ore processed through the Macerator with doubled dust output.
