Distillation Column (Top) is the condenser segment of the oil tower in Ala Industrial: diesel collects here and leaves through its yellow port.
Description
The top segment never exists as a craftable item: Distillation Column (Top) appears only as part of an assembled tower, and breaking any segment degrades the whole structure back to blanks — the broken one drops a segment item, while the base keeps its tanks. The top segment takes no energy, since cables connect only to the base (which draws 2 EU/t at the LV limit of 32 EU/t), yet clicking the top segment opens the tower's full GUI, and a wrench click here cleans the coke fouling. The craftable Rectification Section mounts on top of it: the tower grows to four blocks, losses drop from 10% to 5%, and each 1,000 mB of oil yields 750 mB of diesel instead of 700 mB.

How to get and use the Distillation Column (Top)

Craft three column segments
In a 3×3 grid, place an iron plate–machine casing–iron plate row, a copper plate–electronic circuit–copper plate row, and an iron ingot–machine casing–iron ingot row. Each craft yields one segment; the tower needs three.

Stack the segments vertically
Place three segments one on top of another — the tower assembles itself with a clang. The bottom becomes the base (the "brain"), the middle becomes the oil intake, and the top segment becomes the condenser.

Power the base and feed oil
Run a cable to any side or the bottom face of the base (2 EU/t, LV up to 32 EU/t) and pump oil into the black port on the middle segment. Every run turns 1,000 mB of oil plus 400 EU into 700 mB of diesel and 200 mB of fuel oil in about 10 seconds.

Draw diesel from the top
The yellow port on the top segment drains its 10,000 mB diesel tank. Click any segment to open the tower's GUI and watch the levels of all three tanks.

Top it with the Rectification Section
Place the crafted Rectification Section on the top segment: the tower grows to four blocks, losses drop from 10% to 5%, and every run yields +50 mB of diesel (750 mB in total).
Distillation Column (Top) has no item form — breaking any segment degrades the tower to blanks, and only the broken one drops a segment item. The base keeps its tanks and coke fouling through the teardown.
