Description

The Distillation Column (Middle) is the middle section of the three-block distillation tower — Ala Industrial's first multiblock and the place where crude oil enters the machine. The section is never crafted on its own: the tower's single craftable segment item is built from two Machine Casings, one Electronic Circuit, two Copper Plates, two Iron Plates, and three iron ingots. Stack three segments vertically and the tower assembles itself — the bottom becomes the powered base, and the upper two turn into the middle and top sections. The middle segment holds a 10 000 mB oil tank that accepts any oil carrying the c:oil tag through the black nozzles on its sides; neighbours can insert oil but never extract it.

The Distillation Column (Middle) carries no energy port — an LV cable connects only to the base, so routing power to the middle does nothing. Click any segment of the assembled tower to open the shared interface, where the oil gauge and its container pair sit on the left. Breaking any segment degrades the whole tower: the broken block drops as a segment item, the remaining segments revert to inert blanks in place, and the base keeps its fluids and fouling, so nothing is lost or duplicated. A pickaxe is required to harvest the section, which has hardness 3.0 and blast resistance 6.0. The segment works identically on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition).

Guide

How to Build and Use the Distillation Column Middle Segment in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft a segment item

In a crafting table, combine two Machine Casings, one Electronic Circuit, two Copper Plates, two Iron Plates, and three iron ingots in a PMP/CEC/IMI pattern to make one tower segment.

  2. 2

    Stack three segments

Place the first segment on the ground and two more on top; the tower assembles itself, and the middle segment forms between the base and the top as the crude-oil receiver.

  3. 3

Feed crude oil into the middle

Pump any oil tagged c:oil into the black nozzles on the middle section; its tank holds 10 000 mB and accepts fill only, so neighbours cannot draw oil back out.

  4. 4

Power the base, not the middle

Run an LV cable to the base block at up to 32 EU per tick; the middle segment exposes no energy port and a cable will not connect to it.

  5. 5

    Collect both fractions

Draw diesel from the top section's yellow nozzles and fuel oil from the base's brown nozzles; each run of 1000 mB of oil plus 400 EU yields 700 mB of diesel and 200 mB of fuel oil.

Keep in mind

A lone segment is an inert blank: it has no ports and no interface until three segments stand in a column. Breaking any single segment reverts the tower to blanks.

Frequently asked questions

Can you craft the Distillation Column (Middle) directly?

No. The tower has one craftable segment item; stacking three of them assembles the column, and the middle section forms automatically between the base and the top.

What fluid goes into the middle of the Distillation Column?

Crude oil — any oil carrying the c:oil tag works. The middle tank holds 10 000 mB and is fill-only: pumps can insert oil, but nothing can extract from it.

Can you power the Distillation Column through the middle segment?

No. Energy enters only through the base block at up to 32 EU per tick; a cable will not connect to the middle section at all.

What happens if you break the middle segment?

The whole tower degrades: the broken section drops as one segment item, the others revert to inert blanks, and the base keeps its tanks and fouling — nothing is lost or duplicated.

What tool removes the Distillation Column (Middle)?

A pickaxe is required for the drop; the section has hardness 3.0 and blast resistance 6.0.

Does the middle segment work on its own?

No. A lone segment is an inert blank with no ports and no interface; the oil intake exists only inside a fully assembled three-block tower.
