Description

Diamond Dust is the ground form of diamond in the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition). The Macerator produces it: one diamond ore or deepslate diamond ore grinds into two Diamond Dust, while a finished diamond yields only one. Each grind costs 300 EU and takes 150 ticks (about 7.5 seconds). The Macerator is an LV-tier machine (low voltage, up to 32 EU per tick) with an internal buffer of 800 EU, and any diamond matching the common c:gems/diamond tag can be ground — the result is always Ala Industrial dust.

Diamond Dust does not smelt. It is a non-metal dust with no furnace or blasting recipe, so the only way back to a gem is the Compressor, which presses one Diamond Dust into one diamond for 260 EU — a strictly net-zero loop that only ever spends energy. The dust is not renewable, because diamonds and diamond ore are a finite resource. Five Diamond Dust plus four electrum ingots craft three Electrum Cables, the mod's HV-tier energy wire (512 EU per packet), and three Diamond Dust upgrade an electric tool to its diamond-tip version: the Electric Drill with invar ingots and a silver gear, the Electric Chainsaw with bronze ingots and a gold gear, and the Electric Hoe with cupronickel ingots and lapis dust. The common c:dusts/diamond tag lets other tech mods consume the dust directly, the Industrialist villager buys 8 Diamond Dust for one emerald at trade tier 4, and the behavior is identical on Fabric and NeoForge.

How to get and use Diamond Dust in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Build and power a Macerator

Craft a Macerator and connect it to an LV power network. The machine accepts up to 32 EU per tick, buffers 800 EU, and every grind costs 300 EU.

  2. 2

Grind diamond ore for double yield

Feed the Macerator diamond ore or deepslate diamond ore: each block turns into 2 Diamond Dust after 150 ticks of work (about 7.5 seconds).

  3. 3

    Grind gems one to one

A single diamond — any gem matching the common c:gems/diamond tag — grinds into exactly 1 Diamond Dust for the same 300 EU.

  4. 4

Spend dust on cables and tool upgrades

Five Diamond Dust with four electrum ingots craft three Electrum Cables, and three Diamond Dust turn an Electric Drill, Electric Chainsaw or Electric Hoe into its diamond-tip version.

  5. 5

    Recycle or sell the surplus

The Compressor presses 1 Diamond Dust back into 1 diamond for 260 EU, or the Industrialist villager buys 8 Diamond Dust for one emerald at trade tier 4.

Net-zero loop

Grinding a diamond and compressing the dust back returns exactly one diamond — only energy is spent, so never grind more than a recipe needs. Diamond Dust is not renewable.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get Diamond Dust in Ala Industrial?

Grind diamonds in the Macerator: one diamond ore or deepslate diamond ore gives 2 Diamond Dust, and one diamond gem gives 1. Each grind costs 300 EU.

Can you turn Diamond Dust back into a diamond?

Yes, but only in the Compressor, which presses 1 Diamond Dust into 1 diamond for 260 EU. Diamond Dust has no furnace or blasting recipe.

What is Diamond Dust used for?

It crafts the Electrum Cable (5 dust with 4 electrum ingots yield 3 cables) and the diamond-tip upgrades for the Electric Drill, Electric Chainsaw and Electric Hoe (3 dust each).

Is Diamond Dust renewable?

No. Diamonds and diamond ore are finite, and the grind-then-compress loop returns exactly one diamond per diamond, so the supply never grows.

Does Diamond Dust work in a furnace?

No. It is a non-metal dust with no smelting or blasting recipe; metal dusts smelt in the Electric Furnace, but non-metal dusts only recombine in the Compressor.

Is there a villager trade for Diamond Dust?

Yes. The Industrialist villager buys 8 Diamond Dust for one emerald at trade tier 4, alongside other mod-resource trades.
