Cotton Seeds are the planting item for Ala Industrial's cotton crop and the entry point into the mod's fibre chain. Players find the first seeds by breaking tall or short grass on a plain — a 5% drop that works exactly like wheat seeds, and the Fortune enchantment raises the count. To start a crop, place a Trellis (a two-block support for climbing plants) on moist, tilled farmland and right-click it with Cotton Seeds. The cotton then grows in two phases: a one-time rooting climb that wraps both blocks, followed by an endless fruiting cycle. Cotton growth rolls on vanilla random block ticks with a 1-in-12 chance per rooting stage and a 1-in-4 chance per fruiting stage, so rooting is the slow part paid only once. If the soil dries or the light drops, cotton growth simply pauses — the cotton never dies and never reverts to a seed.

Harvesting never destroys the bush: right-clicking a ripe cotton plant yields 1–2 Cotton Fiber and a 35% chance of fresh Cotton Seeds, then the bush refills and fruits again, making the crop fully renewable. Cotton Fiber is the farmer's alternative to spider string — both are accepted as the fibre input in the Galvanic Bath (alongside silver dust and water), feeding the Fluxweave armour line the same way a spider farm would. Bone meal advances exactly one growth stage per use, so it speeds the climb but cannot skip it. For Minecraft 26.2 on Fabric or NeoForge, a dense trellis field costs the world nothing, because the crop does not tick like a machine, and a small early plantation is a cheap, self-renewing source of fibre for any player who would rather farm than hunt spiders.
