Description

Target Block is crafted from one hay bale and four redstone dust arranged in a plus-sign pattern on the crafting grid, yielding one block per recipe — a fairly cheap recipe given the unique mechanical role. The texture shows a red-and-white concentric bullseye design that reads instantly as an archery target from any distance.

When any arrow, trident, or other projectile strikes the block, it emits a redstone signal whose strength varies with proximity to the centre: a perfect bullseye gives signal strength fifteen, edge hits give signal one, and intermediate landings produce intermediate values. The signal lasts for a short pulse, decaying back to zero after about half a second. Players use this for archery mini-games (highest score wins), automatic doors that require a precise shot to open, redstone clocks driven by repeated arrow strikes, and trap mechanisms where a thrown trident or fired arrow precisely activates a circuit at distance. Snowballs and eggs do not register; only true projectile weapons trigger the signal.
