Stripped Crimson Stem
Stripped Crimson Stem is a fire-resistant Nether log obtained by stripping a crimson stem with an axe — crafts into 4 crimson planks.
Description
Mining is fastest with an axe, and the block always drops itself rather than a planks variant. Each unit can be crafted into four crimson planks, making it a steady source of building material for Nether-themed construction. Unlike overworld logs, no member of the crimson wood family functions as furnace fuel, so the block is valued purely for decoration, structural use, and its smooth saturated palette.
Guide
How to use Stripped Crimson Stem in Minecraft
-
1
Obtain by stripping with an axe
Right-click (or use) a Crimson Stem in the Crimson Forest biome of the Nether while holding any axe — wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite all work. The bark peels away, turning the block into a Stripped Crimson Stem in place. The axe loses one point of durability per strip.
-
2
Mine it to collect
Break the Stripped Crimson Stem with any tool or your fist; an axe is fastest. The block always drops itself (1 Stripped Crimson Stem) regardless of what you mine it with, so there is no need for Silk Touch.
-
3
Craft into Crimson Planks
Place one Stripped Crimson Stem anywhere in a crafting grid (inventory 2×2 or crafting table 3×3) to receive 4 Crimson Planks. This is the same yield as stripping a regular Crimson Stem. Crimson Planks are used to make all standard Nether wood furniture and building pieces.

4
Use as a decorative or structural block
The smooth uniform deep-red sides of the Stripped Crimson Stem pair well with Crimson Planks, Blackstone, and Basalt for Nether-themed builds. Rotate the block to expose its end-grain pattern on the sides by placing it horizontally (as a log column).

Remember: fire-resistant, not fuel
Unlike overworld logs, Stripped Crimson Stem cannot be used as furnace fuel. However, it is completely immune to fire and lava — ideal for fire-hazard environments in the Nether or near lava lakes in the overworld.
Stripped Crimson Stem was added in Java Edition 1.16 (Nether Update, June 2020) alongside the rest of the crimson wood family. It behaves identically on Java and Bedrock editions.
