Crimson Stem
Crimson Stem is the Nether equivalent of a log — tall fungal columns from crimson forests with deep red outer skin and pale pink interior.
Description
Unlike Overworld trees, crimson growth cannot be propagated from a sapling. Players plant a crimson fungus on crimson nylium, then apply bone meal to force it into a huge crimson fungus, which can be harvested for stems, shroomlight, weeping vines, and nether wart blocks. The material is fully fire-resistant — lava and fire do nothing to it, and furnaces will not accept it as fuel — making it the safest large-scale construction wood for any structure built directly above lava lakes.

Travel to the Nether and find a Crimson Forest
Enter a Nether portal and explore until you locate a Crimson Forest biome — recognisable by its deep-red nylium ground, weeping vines, and towering huge crimson fungus structures. Crimson Stem forms the trunk of these huge fungi.

Grow your own huge crimson fungus (optional shortcut)
If no Crimson Forest is nearby, place a Crimson Fungus on Crimson Nylium and apply Bone Meal. The fungus instantly grows into a huge crimson fungus with multiple Crimson Stem blocks in its trunk and branches.

Harvest Crimson Stem with an axe
Break Crimson Stem blocks using any axe — a wooden axe works, but a netherite or diamond axe is fastest. Each block drops 1 Crimson Stem. Crimson Stem is fully fire-resistant, so it will not burn when mined near lava.

Strip the stem to change its appearance
Right-click a placed Crimson Stem with any axe to produce Stripped Crimson Stem. Stripping removes the dark-red bark and exposes a pale-pink interior. Stripped Crimson Stem is a separate block used purely for decoration.

Craft Crimson Planks or compress into Crimson Hyphae
Place 1 Crimson Stem anywhere in a crafting grid to receive 4 Crimson Planks — the standard building wood for Nether-themed structures. Alternatively, arrange 4 Crimson Stems in a 2×2 crafting grid to craft 3 Crimson Hyphae, the bark-on-all-sides variant.
Crimson Stem is fully fire-resistant — lava and fire deal no damage to placed stems and will not set them alight. However, furnaces will not accept Crimson Stem as fuel, unlike Overworld wood logs.
