How to Make Crimson Slab in Minecraft

Crimson Slab

Crimson Slab is a half-height block of Crimson Planks, placed in the top or bottom half of a space for low steps, floors and ceilings.

Description

Crimson Slab is the half-height version of Crimson Planks, and three Crimson Planks in a horizontal row on a Crafting Table produce six slabs. A single Crimson Slab fills the top or bottom half of a block space, and two Crimson Slabs in the same space merge into a double slab that stands as tall as a full block. Crimson Slabs stack to 64 per inventory slot, same type only.

Crimson Slab is not flammable, while Oak Slab and the other Overworld wooden slabs can burn. Axes break Crimson Slab fastest, but any tool or even a bare hand works. Mobs spawn on top slabs and double slabs but not on bottom slabs, so a floor of bottom Crimson Slabs stays free of spawns. Breaking a double slab drops two Crimson Slabs.

Frequently asked questions

Can Crimson Slab burn?

No. Crimson Slab is not flammable, while Oak Slab and the other Overworld wooden slabs are.

Can a Stonecutter make Crimson Slab?

No. The Stonecutter excludes wooden slabs, so Crimson Slab comes only from the Crafting Table.

Can Crimson Slab stand vertically?

No. Slabs cannot be oriented vertically, so Crimson Slab always fills the top or bottom half of a block space.

What happens to Crimson Slab in water?

A single Crimson Slab placed in a water source block lets water fill the empty half of the space (this is called waterlogging).

Which version added Crimson Slab?

Crimson Slab arrived in Java Edition 1.16 and Bedrock Edition 1.16.0, together with the other Crimson wood blocks.
