Description

Crimson Hyphae is the bark-covered variant of the Crimson Stem, generated naturally in the Crimson Forest biome of the Nether since the 1.16 Nether Update. Unlike a plain Crimson Stem, which shows a circular cross-section on its top and bottom faces, Crimson Hyphae wraps the deep red, wart-like fungal texture around all six sides of the block. Players craft Crimson Hyphae by placing four Crimson Stems in a 2x2 square on the crafting grid, which yields three Crimson Hyphae. An axe breaks Crimson Hyphae fastest; the block has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 3.

Crimson Hyphae is fireproof — because it is a giant fungus rather than true wood, Crimson Hyphae does not catch fire or burn even when placed directly beside lava, making it ideal for safe Nether bases and decorative red structures. Crimson Hyphae cannot be used as furnace fuel, unlike Overworld logs, so keep ordinary wood for smelting. Strip Crimson Hyphae with an axe to reveal the smoother orange-pink Stripped Crimson Hyphae, and craft Crimson Hyphae into Crimson Planks for doors, stairs, slabs, and fences in a uniform crimson palette.

Java & Bedrock Guide

How to craft and use Crimson Hyphae in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather Crimson Stems

Travel to a Crimson Forest in the Nether and chop Crimson Stems from the giant crimson fungi using any axe.

  2. 2

    Craft Crimson Hyphae

Place four Crimson Stems in a 2x2 square on the crafting grid to produce three Crimson Hyphae with bark on every face.

  3. 3

    Strip the block (optional)

Right-click Crimson Hyphae with an axe to turn it into Stripped Crimson Hyphae, exposing a smoother orange-pink surface.

  4. 4

    Build fireproof structures

Place Crimson Hyphae next to lava or fire safely, since the block never burns, then expand with Crimson Planks for matching trim.

Fuel limitation

Crimson Hyphae and all other Nether stems cannot be used as furnace fuel, unlike Overworld logs. Keep ordinary wood for smelting and use Crimson Hyphae only for building.
