Description

Overclocker Chip III is the highest of the three speed-upgrade items in the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition); on Fabric and NeoForge it works identically. The chip is an item, not a block: it goes into the top arm of a machine's upgrade panel, the double-arrow slot, and exactly one overclocker works per machine because tiers I, II and III are three separate items. Every tier shortens an operation to 80 % of its previous length and doubles the EU draw per tick, so with tier III a macerator grinds ore in 77 ticks instead of 150 — nearly twice as fast — while pulling 16 EU/t instead of 2 and burning 1232 EU per operation instead of 300. Speed is always paid for in energy: the three tiers together raise the energy bill per operation roughly fourfold.

Tier III only pays off on machines whose voltage and wiring can feed it. Standard LV machines (low voltage, up to 32 EU/t) with a 2 EU/t base draw — the macerator, electric furnace, extractor, compressor, sawmill, polymerizer, distillation column, vulcanizer and galvanic bath — accept tier III at 16 EU/t, while the alloy smelter and incubator top out at tier II and the MV assembler runs III at 96 EU/t. Wiring gives up before the tier does: copper cable carries only 12 EU/t, so Overclocker Chip III effectively demands a gold cable at 48 EU/t. The recipe costs three gold ingots, one Overclocker Chip II in the centre and one Energy Clot III on top; clots come only from the Energy Condenser, which banks grid surplus — in practice the power plant pays for the chip. The chip never changes recipes or odds, does not shorten the distillation column's warm-up, and does nothing in generators or the condenser.

How to use Overclocker Chip III in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the chip

Set one Energy Clot III above an Overclocker Chip II in a crafting grid and add three gold ingots — one left, one right and one below the centre.

  2. 2

    Open the upgrade panel

Interact with the machine and switch to the upgrade tab marked with a double arrow; drop the chip into the top arm of the panel, one per machine.

  3. 3

    Upgrade the wiring

A 2 EU/t machine draws 16 EU/t under tier III, beyond the 12 EU/t of copper cable — run gold cable at 48 EU/t so the machine never starves.

  4. 4

    Check the tooltip

Hover the gear icon on the panel: the tooltip lists the installed tier and shows how far speed and energy draw have moved.

Important

In the alloy smelter and incubator the chip sits in the slot but acts as tier II: their base draw leaves no headroom for the third step.

Frequently asked questions

What does Overclocker Chip III do?

Overclocker Chip III cuts every machine operation to about 51 % of the base time (1.95× faster) and multiplies the EU draw by eight — a macerator finishes ore in 77 ticks instead of 150 at 16 EU/t.

How do I craft Overclocker Chip III?

Combine one Overclocker Chip II, one Energy Clot III and three gold ingots in a shaped recipe: the clot goes on top, the chip in the centre, the ingots left, right and below.

Can I stack three chips in one machine?

No. Tiers I, II and III are three separate items, and exactly one overclocker works per machine — tier III already applies all three speed steps at once.

Which machines support tier III?

LV machines with a 2 EU/t base draw — macerator, electric furnace, extractor, compressor, sawmill, polymerizer, distillation column, vulcanizer, galvanic bath — plus the MV assembler; the alloy smelter and incubator stop at tier II.

Does the chip change recipes or drop chances?

No. Overclocker Chip III affects only operation time and energy draw. Recipes, odds — including the incubator's — and the distillation column's warm-up stay unchanged.

Why does my machine starve with tier III?

Copper cable carries only 12 EU/t while a machine under tier III pulls 16 EU/t on a 2 EU/t base; replace the line with gold cable rated for 48 EU/t.
