Description

Orange Wool comes from dyeing any wool block — including the White Wool crafted from four String — with Orange Dye, and it also generates naturally inside woodland mansions alongside nearly every other wool color. Sheep supply wool directly too: shearing an adult sheep with Shears yields one to three wool of its own color, an unsheared sheep still drops one wool block when it dies, and sheep regrow their coat by grazing grass, so the source never runs dry. Orange Wool stacks to 64, but only with other Orange Wool — a differently colored wool block keeps its own separate stack. Like every wool block, it burns readily and is destroyed by lava, so building it near open flame is risky.

Orange Wool crafts into an orange carpet, an orange bed, orange banners, and, since Minecraft 26.3, orange wool stairs and slabs, letting builders match an entire furniture set to one color. Its warm, saturated tone suits autumn-themed builds, pumpkin patches, and desert trims that need a splash of color against sand or terracotta. Any color of wool also works as a decorative ingredient for paintings without changing how the painting looks, so a stray Orange Wool block is never wasted. Anyone assembling a full orange room should keep Orange Dye on hand, since a single dye instantly turns spare wool of any other color into Orange Wool.

Guide

How to Get Orange Wool in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Shear a sheep

Right-click an adult sheep with Shears to collect 1-3 wool without hurting it; dye the wool afterward if the sheep isn't already orange.

  2. 2

    Dye any wool orange

Place one Wool block of any color together with one Orange Dye in the crafting grid to get 1 Orange Wool.

  3. 3

Craft White Wool first if you have none

Arrange 4 String in a 2x2 square on the crafting grid to make White Wool, then dye it orange.

  4. 4

    Loot a woodland mansion

Explore a woodland mansion and pick up Orange Wool directly from its rooms without crafting anything.

Keep a flock nearby

Breed sheep with Wheat and let them graze grass blocks so their wool regrows, giving a steady supply to shear and dye again.
