Orange Banner is a craftable decoration block made from six Orange Wool and one Stick, and the orange base color can never be changed after crafting. The six Orange Wool fill the top two rows of the 3×3 crafting grid, the Stick sits in the bottom-center cell of the sign-shaped pattern, and one craft outputs one Orange Banner. Orange Banner stacks up to 16 per slot and has hardness 1 and blast resistance 1; an axe breaks Orange Banner fastest, though a bare hand also works. Water and lava flow around a placed Orange Banner, the flag is non-solid so players walk through the cloth, and pistons never move banners. Removing, moving, or destroying the block a placed Orange Banner is attached to makes the flag drop itself as an item.

Orange Banner earns a spot on castles, harbors, and team bases as a customizable flag: a loom (the banner-pattern crafting station) layers dye designs over the orange base. Orange Banner also decorates a Shield — one craft transfers the pattern, consumes the banner, and requires a shield with no preexisting patterns. On Java Edition, holding a map and pressing use on the placed Orange Banner places a marker at that exact spot. One spare Orange Banner even smelts 1.5 items as furnace fuel. Cartographer and shepherd villagers sell banners, because no world structure generates orange banners naturally. Minecraft added banners in Java Edition 1.8 and Bedrock Edition 1.2.0.
