Description

Invar Ingot is the iron-nickel alloy of Ala Industrial, and the Alloy Smelter produces it exactly one ingot at a time. Load two iron ingots and one nickel ingot into any input slots — all three slots are interchangeable — and 150 ticks (about 7.5 seconds) later the machine hands out a single Invar Ingot. The smelter draws 8 EU/t under the LV ceiling of 32 EU/t, so one operation costs 1200 EU, and because the output is always a single ingot, every Invar Ingot carries that price in full. There is no invar ore generated anywhere, and neither a vanilla furnace nor blasting can weld the metals together: the smelter is the only source.

Nickel is the real bottleneck of the recipe. It is the scarcest metal Ala Industrial places in the world, and it is already consumed by electronic circuits, so every Invar Ingot is also a circuit not built. Alloying loses metal by design: three ingots go in and one comes out, the same melting loss every alloy in the mod pays — bronze from the same smelter at least returns two ingots for its 1200 EU. A single recipe spends the alloy so far: the Diamond-Tipped Electric Drill takes two Invar Ingots together with three Diamond Dust, a Silver Gear and a regular Electric Drill. Ingots from other mods work as inputs, because the smelter reads the common c:ingots/iron and c:ingots/nickel tags.

How to get and use Invar Ingot in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Secure the nickel

Nickel is the scarce half of the recipe. Mine nickel ore with a stone pickaxe or better, grind the ore or raw nickel in the Macerator for two dust per block, and smelt the dust in the Electric Furnace.

  2. 2

    Set up an Alloy Smelter

Craft the Alloy Smelter and connect it to an LV energy line. The machine draws 8 EU/t — well under the 32 EU/t LV ceiling — so a copper cable feed keeps it running without pauses.

  3. 3

Load two iron and one nickel

Drop two iron ingots and one nickel ingot into any input slots of the smelter: the order does not matter. Nickel ingots from other mods are accepted too, because the smelter reads the common c:ingots tags.

  4. 4

    Collect the single ingot

After 150 ticks (about 7.5 seconds) the smelter outputs exactly one Invar Ingot at a cost of 1200 EU. Three ingots entered and one left — the melting loss is deliberate for every alloy.

No furnace shortcut

There is no invar ore in the world and no vanilla furnace or blasting recipe for Invar Ingot: the Alloy Smelter is its only source in Ala Industrial.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get Invar Ingot in Ala Industrial?

Only the Alloy Smelter makes it: load two iron ingots and one nickel ingot into the input slots and pay 1200 EU for each single ingot.

Can you smelt Invar Ingot in a vanilla furnace?

No. Invar has no ore, and neither a furnace nor blasting will alloy iron with nickel — the Alloy Smelter is the only route.

Is Invar Ingot renewable?

No. Iron is renewable, but nickel exists only as finite ore generated in the world, so the alloy cannot be farmed indefinitely.

What is Invar Ingot used for?

One recipe consumes it so far: the Diamond-Tipped Electric Drill takes two Invar Ingots, three Diamond Dust, a Silver Gear and a regular Electric Drill.

Why do three ingots make only one?

Melting loss is intentional in every Ala Industrial alloy recipe. At 1200 EU for a single ingot, invar also costs twice the per-ingot price of bronze.

Does nickel from other mods work?

Yes. The Alloy Smelter reads the common c:ingots/iron and c:ingots/nickel tags, so ingots from other mods are accepted exactly like the mod's own.
