Iron Cable is the fourth and highest tier of conventional power lines in Industrial Craft 2 Experimental, running on Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2 through Minecraft Forge. One Iron Cable moves energy packets of up to 2048 EU — Extreme Voltage (EV) — and every lower level such as the 512 EU High Voltage tier, while a packet above 2048 EU melts the line instantly. The official wiki files this item under the name HV Cable, so both names point to the same dark iron line. An Iron Cable is produced by cutting an iron plate with the Cutter, and up to four cables can join at a single cable block.

Bare Iron Cable loses 1 EU per block travelled, the heaviest distance loss of any IC2 cable, and three layers of Rubber trim that to 0.8 EU per block. The payoff is voltage efficiency: at the full 2048 EU packet size an insulated Iron Cable loses only about 1.56% per 40 blocks, beating Copper Cable and Gold Cable at their own limits, with only Glass Fibre Cable transferring energy more cheaply. Uninsulated Iron Cable shocks every creature that comes near while energy flows — a 2048 EU-per-tick current kills a player in a fully charged Quantum Suit within about 20.5 seconds — so insulate the line and colour it with the Painter. For long hauls, raise the voltage with the EV-Transformer and drop it back down before the machines, because an oversized packet wrecks equipment just as reliably as it melts Iron Cable.
