Description

Insulated Copper Cable is the workhorse medium-voltage wire of IndustrialCraft 2, rated to carry up to 128 EU per packet without melting. Energy degrades slowly along the run: the cable loses exactly 0.2 EU per block, which the game rounds down to a whole number — so a four-block run delivers every packet intact, while a five-block run costs 1 EU per packet that passes through. The rubber insulation cuts the loss from the 0.3 EU/block of an uninsulated Copper Cable and, in classic IC2, stops the contact shock that bare wires inflict on any player who stands too close.

Players craft Insulated Copper Cable by pairing one Copper Cable with one Rubber in a shapeless crafting-grid recipe, and the wire is consumed in bulk to build most early IndustrialCraft 2 machines: the BatBox storage box, the Generator, the Macerator, and the Electric Furnace all take insulated copper wiring in their recipes. A Painter can recolour each cable so that neighbouring wires of different colours stop connecting and no longer merge into a single network. Because the 128 EU/p limit sits in the Medium Voltage tier, pushing a High Voltage packet through Insulated Copper Cable melts the wire instantly, so any link beyond a BatBox or MFE output is better served by a Gold Cable or a properly transformed HV line.

    Place three Copper Ingots in a horizontal row across a crafting grid to produce one uninsulated Copper Cable, the base for every Insulated Copper Cable.

    Combine one Copper Cable with one Rubber in any shapeless slot arrangement; the recipe yields one Insulated Copper Cable and cuts the per-block energy loss from 0.3 EU to 0.2 EU.

    Connect the Insulated Copper Cable from a Generator or BatBox output to the input dot of a Macerator, Electric Furnace, or other 32 EU/t machine, keeping each run as short as possible.
