Description

Chrome Ingot is a refined metal added by the IndustrialCraft 2 (IC2) mod, not a vanilla Minecraft block. Chrome cannot be mined directly as an ore: players first get Chrome Dust as a by-product of Industrial Electrolyzer recipes, most notably when processing Ruby Dust, then smelt that dust in a Blast Furnace at very high heat to produce one Chrome Ingot. The ingot sits in IC2's advanced material tier, alongside the alloys and dusts that feed the mod's high-end machinery. Its main role is as a high-tier crafting material for advanced IndustrialCraft 2 machine blocks and casings, the chassis that hold the mod's most powerful machines. Because each ingot depends on Ruby Dust, electricity for the Electrolyzer, and heat for the Blast Furnace, Chrome is a renewable but energy-intensive resource that only pays off once your IC2 base has a working power grid. Store Chrome Ingots in a chest until you have enough for advanced recipes, and keep a stock of Ruby Dust ready for the Electrolyzer. In normal Minecraft survival, Chrome Ingot is useless and exists only when the IndustrialCraft 2 mod is installed.

IndustrialCraft 2 Guide

How to make a Chrome Ingot in IndustrialCraft 2

  1. 1

    Get Ruby Dust

Obtain Ruby Dust, the key input, through IndustrialCraft 2 ore and gem processing such as the Macerator.

  2. 2

    Run the Industrial Electrolyzer

Process Ruby Dust in a powered Industrial Electrolyzer; Chrome Dust comes out as a by-product of the recipe.

  3. 3

    Collect the Chrome Dust

Gather the Chrome Dust the Electrolyzer produces alongside its main output before it fills the machine.

  4. 4

    Smelt in a Blast Furnace

Smelt the Chrome Dust in a Blast Furnace at very high heat to form one finished Chrome Ingot.

  5. 5

    Craft high-tier blocks

Save your Chrome Ingots for advanced IndustrialCraft 2 machine blocks, casings, and other high-tier recipes.

Mod required

Chrome Ingot exists only with the IndustrialCraft 2 mod installed and has no equivalent in vanilla Minecraft.
