Description

Thermal Cultivation is a Terraformer Blueprint from Industrial Craft 2 — a program item that tells a Terraformer machine to green the landscape. Loaded into a Terraformer, Thermal Cultivation starts growing plants all around the landscape, usually on grass blocks, fills empty dirt blocks with grass, and even slowly converts deserts into dirt. One Thermal Cultivation blueprint is crafted on a crafting grid from four Wheat Seeds in a plus shape (top, left, right, and bottom cells of the 3×3 grid). The official wiki describes the Thermal Cultivation program as extremely CPU intensive: effects take longer to appear, and the Terraformer drains much more energy than usual.

A working setup needs a powered Terraformer. Right-click the placed Terraformer with Thermal Cultivation in hand to load the program. Power arrives through a cable, and on the Terraformer energy table the Cultivation program draws 20 EU/t. A Terraformer consumes all available energy as fast as possible, and completely terraforming a landscape may take multiple days, so a generous power source pays off. Right-click the Terraformer again to eject the blueprint.

Guide

How to Use Thermal Cultivation in Industrial Craft 2

  1. 1

    Craft the blueprint

Place four Wheat Seeds in a plus shape on a crafting grid — top, left, right, and bottom cells of the 3×3 grid — to craft one Thermal Cultivation.

  2. 2

    Place a Terraformer

Craft a Terraformer machine and place the Terraformer in the middle of the area that needs greening.

  3. 3

    Load the program

Right-click the placed Terraformer with Thermal Cultivation in hand; the blueprint slots into the machine and the program starts.

  4. 4

    Power the Terraformer

Connect a cable to the Terraformer and supply energy; on the Terraformer energy table the Cultivation program draws 20 EU/t.

  5. 5

    Wait for the green result

The Terraformer grows plants on grass blocks, fills empty dirt with grass, and slowly converts deserts into dirt; full terraforming may take multiple days.

Plan the power budget

The Thermal Cultivation program is extremely CPU intensive: effects appear slower and the energy drain rises compared with lighter Terraformer blueprints. A Terraformer also grabs all available energy at once, so keep the cable feed well stocked.

Frequently asked questions

Is Thermal Cultivation a block?

No. Thermal Cultivation is a Terraformer Blueprint — a program item that works only inside a Terraformer machine, so Thermal Cultivation is never placed in the world.

How do I remove Thermal Cultivation from a Terraformer?

Right-click the Terraformer and the blueprint pops out. A used Terraformer Blueprint can be reset by placing the blueprint in a crafting grid, which clears the stored program.

What happens when two Terraformers cover the same ground?

Both Terraformers keep terraforming the conflicting area until one Terraformer runs out of power. Space the machines apart or provide enough energy for the overlap.
