Description

Copper Ore is an ore block added by the IndustrialCraft 2 (IC2) mod, and it is the primary early-game source of copper in any IC2-based modpack. It generates in the Overworld inside stone at lower altitudes, appearing in small veins much like vanilla iron ore. Mine it with a stone pickaxe or better and it drops the ore block itself. Smelt one block in a Furnace to get a single Copper Ingot, or run it through a Macerator first to produce two Crushed Copper Ore, which then smelt into two ingots — doubling your yield. Copper is one of the most important metals in IC2: it forms copper cables for power transmission, electronic circuits, RE Batteries, and the casings of basic machines. IC2 added its own copper ore years before vanilla Minecraft introduced copper in the 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update.

How to process IC2 Copper Ore in Minecraft

    Mine the ore

    Dig Copper Ore from stone at lower Overworld altitudes using a stone pickaxe or better; it drops the ore block itself.

    Smelt or macerate

    Smelt the block directly in a Furnace for one Copper Ingot, or process it in a Macerator first for a better return.

    Double your ingots

    A Macerator turns one ore into two Crushed Copper Ore, which smelt into two Copper Ingots — doubling the output.

    Build with copper

    Use Copper Ingots to craft copper cables, electronic circuits, RE Batteries, and basic machine casings.

Version note

IC2 copper predates vanilla copper (added in Minecraft 1.17); in some modpacks the two are unified through ore dictionary entries and can be used interchangeably.
