Gold Gear is the precious-metal crafting component of the Ala Industrial mod: an intermediate item rather than a placeable block. Players craft one Gold Gear on a 3×3 crafting grid by arranging four gold ingots in a cross (north, east, south, west) around a Wooden Gear in the center, yielding a single gear per craft. The recipe appears in the recipe book as soon as a player holds a Wooden Gear and a gold ingot together. Gold Gear consumes no EU (energy) and has no tier of its own, because it exists purely as an ingredient for other recipes, and it belongs to the four-member metal gear family (stone, iron, gold, silver) that steps the mod's material ladder up from the basic Wooden Gear.

Gold Gear currently drives exactly one recipe: the Diamond-Tipped Electric Chainsaw, the second tier of the Electric Chainsaw, where the gear serves as the chain drive in the slot beneath the tool. The upgrade surrounds the chainsaw with three Diamond Dust, two Bronze Ingots, and exactly one Gold Gear, while the parallel drill upgrade deliberately takes a Silver Gear, so the two branches never compete for the same metal. Unlike the Iron Gear, no villager sells a Gold Gear, so crafting is the only source. Because gold is renewable through zombified piglin farms and wood through tree farms, the component is fully renewable. Gold Gear works identically on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition and stacks up to 64.
