Description

Electric Furnace is the full electrical counterpart to the vanilla furnace in Ala Industrial. It smelts everything a regular furnace can — ores, food, sand into glass, cobblestone into stone — but runs on EU instead of fuel and works about twice as fast, finishing each item in roughly 100 ticks (5 seconds). On top of the vanilla recipes, Ala Industrial adds 12 of its own, all priced at 200 EU: metal dusts into ingots (copper, iron, gold, nickel, silver, tin, uranium), raw ores of the mod's specific metals into ingots, and iron ingots into tempered iron. This closes the ore-doubling loop started by the Macerator, which grinds one ore into two dusts.

Electric Furnace is an LV machine with an 800 EU internal buffer and a 32 EU/t input ceiling, so it draws 2 EU/t while working and never takes more than the network can spare. It is crafted at a workbench from six silver ingots surrounding the mod's Iron Furnace, an Electronic Circuit, and a Battery, and it evolves into the Induction Furnace at the MV tier for faster, hotter smelting. Any pickaxe breaks the block, but it does not keep its charge when broken, so the stored EU is lost.

Ala Industrial Guide

How to use the Electric Furnace in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Craft the Electric Furnace

Place six silver ingots across the top and bottom rows of a crafting table, with the mod's Iron Furnace in the center, an Electronic Circuit to its left, and a Battery to its right.

  2. 2

    Connect an LV power source

Run a cable from a Generator or charged Battery into one of the five working faces, not the front face, to feed the 800 EU buffer at up to 32 EU/t.

  3. 3

    Load a smeltable item

Put any ore, food, metal dust, or other vanilla-smeltable item into the single input slot to start a smelt.

  4. 4

    Collect the result

Wait about 5 seconds (100 ticks) for each smelt at a cost of 200 EU, then take the output from the output slot.

Charge is lost on break

The Electric Furnace does not keep its stored EU when broken. Pick it up with any pickaxe and the buffer resets to zero.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Electric Furnace need fuel?

No. The Electric Furnace runs entirely on EU instead of fuel, drawing 2 EU/t while working from an LV power source.

Is the Electric Furnace faster than a vanilla furnace?

Yes. Each smelt takes about 100 ticks (5 seconds), roughly twice as fast as the vanilla furnace's 200 ticks (10 seconds).

What can the Electric Furnace smelt?

Everything a vanilla furnace can smelt, plus 12 Ala Industrial recipes at 200 EU each — metal dusts into ingots, the mod's raw ores into ingots, and iron ingots into tempered iron.

How much power does the Electric Furnace use?

It has an 800 EU buffer, accepts up to 32 EU/t on the LV tier, and spends 200 EU per item smelted.

How do you craft the Electric Furnace?

Surround the mod's Iron Furnace with six silver ingots across the top and bottom rows, an Electronic Circuit, and a Battery in a crafting table.

Does the Electric Furnace keep its charge when broken?

No. Breaking it with a pickaxe drops the block, but the stored EU is lost and the buffer starts empty when placed again.
