Description
Damaged Anvil is the last functional stage before an anvil breaks entirely. Every time a player uses an anvil, there is a 12% chance the block drops one durability tier. A fresh anvil becomes Chipped, then Damaged, and the next triggering use destroys it with a crack animation and the familiar sound effect. The block retains the full feature set of earlier stages — renaming items, combining enchantments, and repairing tools — so players often use one until it breaks rather than replacing it early.
The worn texture also serves a narrative purpose in builds. Blacksmith shops, abandoned ruins, dungeons, and industrial scenes look more authentic with visibly aged equipment. Because the block is not craftable in isolation, players who want permanent aged décor typically prefer the Chipped Anvil. Continuing to use a Damaged Anvil until it breaks naturally stretches the iron and experience investment across additional repairs before the cost of crafting a replacement.
