Description
Cobweb is found naturally in abandoned mineshafts, stronghold corridors, and igloo basements. It can be obtained with shears, which give one intact block, or with a Silk Touch sword or tool, which also drops it intact. Without Silk Touch, breaking it with a sword drops string, while other tools destroy it without drops.
Any entity passing through it has its movement speed reduced to roughly 15% of normal, making it highly effective as a trap layer or mob-slowing barrier. Entities do not take fall damage while within it. Arrows shot through it slow to a crawl and may lose flight trajectory.
Players use cobwebs for mob farms to slow enemies before killing mechanisms, in PvP traps, and in adventure-map puzzle design. Decoratively, cobwebs create haunted-house aesthetics and are essential for abandoned-structure builds. String, crafted from this block, is a core ingredient for bows and fishing rods.
