Cobweb
Spider-spawned decoration found in mineshafts and strongholds that drastically slows any entity moving through it, useful for traps and mob control.
Description
Any entity passing through it has its movement speed reduced to roughly 15% of normal, making it highly effective as a trap layer or mob-slowing barrier. Entities do not take fall damage while within it. Arrows shot through it slow to a crawl and may lose flight trajectory.
Players use cobwebs for mob farms to slow enemies before killing mechanisms, in PvP traps, and in adventure-map puzzle design. Decoratively, cobwebs create haunted-house aesthetics and are essential for abandoned-structure builds. String, crafted from this block, is a core ingredient for bows and fishing rods.

How to collect and use Cobweb in Minecraft
-
1
Find natural cobwebs
Explore abandoned mineshafts, stronghold corridors, igloo basements, and woodland mansions, where Cobweb generates naturally in clusters.
-
2
Harvest the block intact
Break Cobweb with shears or a Silk Touch tool to collect the block itself; a plain sword drops string instead, and other tools destroy it with no drop.
-
3
Slow mobs and players
Place Cobweb in mob-farm chutes, PvP traps, or narrow doorways to cut any entity's movement to roughly 15% of normal speed.
-
4
Remove unwanted cobweb
Pour water over Cobweb or set it alight to clear it instantly, which is faster than breaking each block by hand.
Cobweb behaves the same in Java and Bedrock Edition and cannot be crafted in survival — collecting it always requires shears or Silk Touch.
