Cherry Planks
Cherry Planks have a soft pink-salmon hue introduced in 1.20 — the go-to choice for sakura builds and pastel architecture.
Description
The wood crafts at the standard rate — four planks per log — and supports the full range of doors, fences, slabs, stairs, signs, boats, hanging signs, ladders, and chests. Pair Cherry Planks with bone blocks for ivory contrast, with white concrete for clean modern looks, or with stone bricks for traditional Japanese roof tile combinations. Like every wood family, the material burns, smelts as fuel, and grows from a single sapling — though the trees only spawn in their native biome.
Guide
How to craft and use Cherry Planks in Minecraft
-
1
Find a Cherry Grove biome
Cherry Planks come from Cherry Logs found exclusively in the Cherry Grove biome, which generates in mountainous terrain. Look for pink blossom trees with grey-pink striped bark and falling pink petal particles.
-
2
Harvest Cherry Logs
Chop Cherry trees with any tool — an axe is fastest. Each Cherry Log or Stripped Cherry Log can be converted into planks. Collect at least one log to begin crafting.
-
3
Craft Cherry Planks
Place 1 Cherry Log in any single slot of a crafting grid (2×2 or 3×3) to receive 4 Cherry Planks. No crafting table is required for this recipe.
-
4
Build with Cherry Planks
Use Cherry Planks as a building material with a soft salmon-pink tone unique among all wood types. Cherry Planks support a full family of derivatives: slabs, stairs, fences, doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates, signs, hanging signs, fence gates, and boats.

Use Cherry Planks as fuel
Cherry Planks burn as furnace fuel at 1.5 items per plank. Note that Cherry Planks are flammable and will catch fire from nearby lava or flame sources, so avoid storing them near fire hazards in survival builds.
Cherry Planks were introduced in Java Edition 1.20 (Trails & Tales, June 7 2023) and the matching Bedrock Edition update. Cherry Saplings can be planted in any biome, but Cherry trees only generate naturally in Cherry Grove.
