Carbon Rod is the first rung of the Ala Industrial chain in which coal stops being fuel. The Compressor presses sixteen Coal Dust into one Carbon Rod for a flat 260 EU — two EU per tick over 130 ticks — and that price never changes, because every compressor operation costs the same whether it presses one item or sixteen. The expensive part sits upstream: the Macerator grinds one coal into one Coal Dust for 300 EU, and a coal ore block yields two dust per pass, so sixteen macerator runs — not the pressing — dominate the bill of a single rod. Charcoal mills into Coal Dust just like coal, which makes the Carbon Rod a fully renewable part backed by tree farms. Ala Industrial runs on Minecraft 26.2 Java Edition with both Fabric and NeoForge loaders.

Two Carbon Rods plus the Forge Hammer in a crafting grid make the Double Carbon Rod, and that forging costs no EU at all — the hammer pays with durability instead. Two Double Carbon Rods and two Slag then smelt into one Carbon Briquette in the Alloy Smelter for 1200 EU, which is the only reason the Carbon Rod exists: a stack of 64 coal becomes 64 dust, four rods, two doubles, and exactly one briquette. No recipe turns a Carbon Rod back into dust, so coal leaves the inventory in stages and never comes back. The Carbon Rod is an item rather than a placed block, stacks to 64, and serves no recipe outside this chain.
