Description

The Lunar Evolution Chip is the night half of Ala Industrial's evolution-chip pair: a one-shot catalyst that upgrades a placed T1 generator to its T2 form without losing the charge inside. Insert the chip into a basic Solar Panel and the machine grows into the Moonlit Solar Panel, which generates 3 EU/t through the night where the base panel stands dead at 0. The same Lunar Evolution Chip turns a Wind Turbine into the Tempest Mill, a generator that thrives in bad weather: its output climbs to 21 EU/t in a thunderstorm. In both cases the EU accumulated in the block's buffer (its internal energy store) carries over to the T2 block, and the chip itself is consumed by the transformation.

The recipe is a shaped 3×3 workbench craft: four nickel ingots in the corners, four lapis blocks in a cross, and one Electronic Circuit in the centre. Evolution is not instant — the Lunar Evolution Chip needs 33,600 active ticks, about 28 real minutes under the right conditions. Inside a Solar Panel the chip only progresses at night under open sky in the Overworld, while inside a Wind Turbine it works around the clock as long as the rotor is installed and the blades are unobstructed. Every ingredient can be duplicated in the Incubator, which makes the Lunar Evolution Chip a renewable item, and its day twin — the Solar Evolution Chip — unlocks the daylight branch of the same upgrades.

How to use the Lunar Evolution Chip in Ala Industrial

  1. 1

    Craft the chip

At a workbench, place four nickel ingots in the corners of the 3×3 grid, four lapis blocks in a cross between them, and one Electronic Circuit in the centre.

  2. 2

    Set up a T1 generator

Place a basic Solar Panel or a Wind Turbine with its rotor installed, and let the buffer charge up with EU — that charge will be kept.

  3. 3

    Insert the Lunar Evolution Chip

Open the generator's interface and drop the chip into its evolution slot; the machine starts tracking evolution progress immediately.

  4. 4

    Wait out 33,600 active ticks

A Solar Panel evolves only at night under open sky, a Wind Turbine any time its blades are free — about 28 real minutes in total.

  5. 5

    Collect the T2 generator

The panel becomes a Moonlit Solar Panel producing 3 EU/t at night, or the turbine becomes a Tempest Mill peaking at 21 EU/t in thunder, with the stored EU carried over.

Where it does not work

Evolution needs open Overworld sky: a Lunar Evolution Chip makes no progress underground, in the Nether, or in the End. Its day twin, the Solar Evolution Chip, unlocks the daylight T2 branches.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Lunar Evolution Chip consumed when used?

Yes. It is a one-shot catalyst: once 33,600 active ticks are collected, the T1 generator transforms, the chip disappears, and the stored EU carries over to the T2 block.

Which generators can the Lunar Evolution Chip evolve?

Two of them. A basic Solar Panel becomes the Moonlit Solar Panel producing 3 EU/t at night, and a Wind Turbine becomes the Tempest Mill reaching 21 EU/t in a thunderstorm.

How long does the evolution take?

33,600 active ticks — about 28 real minutes under the right conditions, roughly three clear in-game days for a panel that only counts night hours.

Why is my Lunar Evolution Chip not progressing?

A Solar Panel evolves only at night under open Overworld sky, and a Wind Turbine needs its rotor installed with unobstructed blades. No open sky — underground, in the Nether or the End — means no progress.

How do you craft the Lunar Evolution Chip?

In a shaped 3×3 workbench recipe: four nickel ingots in the corners, four lapis blocks in a cross, and one Electronic Circuit in the centre, yielding one chip.

Is the Lunar Evolution Chip renewable?

Yes. Nickel and lapis, plus every ingredient of the Electronic Circuit, can be duplicated in the Incubator, so the chip can be produced indefinitely.
