Stone Bricks
Stone Bricks are the refined version of stone — a clean uniform tile pattern that defines strongholds and medieval architecture.
Description
The block also generates naturally as the primary construction material of strongholds — the underground fortresses that house end portals — and ocean ruins. Three decorative variants exist: mossy (crafted with vines), cracked (smelted from regular bricks), and chiseled (made by stacking two bricks). The full slab/stair/wall family is available at a stonecutter or crafting grid, making Stone Bricks the default building material for any structure that should feel weathered and durable: castle walls, abbey courtyards, sewer tunnels.
Guide
How to craft and use Stone Bricks in Minecraft
-
1
Obtain Stone
Smelt Cobblestone in a Furnace to get Stone, or mine Stone directly with a Silk Touch pickaxe. Each Cobblestone yields 1 Stone after smelting.
-
2
Craft Stone Bricks
Place 4 Stone blocks in a 2×2 square on a Crafting Table. The recipe produces 4 Stone Bricks per craft — a perfect one-to-one conversion ratio.
-
3
Build Structures
Use Stone Bricks as a durable building material for castle walls, sewer tunnels, or abbey courtyards. Stone Bricks have a blast resistance of 6.0, matching regular stone.
-
4
Craft Slabs, Stairs, and Walls
Place Stone Bricks in the Stonecutter or on the Crafting Table to produce Stone Brick Slabs, Stairs, and Walls for detailed architectural work.
-
5
Find Stone Bricks Naturally
Stone Bricks generate naturally in Strongholds, Ocean Ruins, and Ruined Portals. Mining them with a pickaxe drops Stone Bricks directly (no Silk Touch needed).
Three decorative variants exist: Mossy Stone Bricks (craft Stone Bricks with Vines), Cracked Stone Bricks (smelt Stone Bricks in a Furnace), and Chiseled Stone Bricks (stack two Stone Brick Slabs vertically in the crafting grid). All variants have matching slabs, stairs, and walls.
