Description

Stone Brick Wall is a decorative wall variant of stone bricks that also generates naturally in ruined portals across the Overworld. Breaking requires a pickaxe, and a Stone Brick Wall mined without a pickaxe drops nothing — wooden tier or better is enough. Stone Brick Wall is renewable, stacks to 64 per inventory slot, and pairs hardness 1.5 with blast resistance 6 (resistance to creeper and TNT explosions). Stone Brick Wall never burns, never catches fire from lava, and supports waterlogging (the space fills with water instead of air).

In use, a Stone Brick Wall stands 1.5 blocks tall for players and mobs while occupying only one block of space, so mobs cannot jump over a single row. Each Stone Brick Wall connects automatically to horizontally adjacent walls, bars, and glass panes, but never to fences; fence gates still connect. Since Java Edition 1.16 and Bedrock Edition 1.16.0, stacked walls leave no vertical gaps, so columns of Stone Brick Wall read as one solid face. Fencing a perimeter with walls costs half as many blocks as a two-block-high solid barrier, though skeletons shoot over the top and spiders climb across.

Guide

How to Craft and Use Stone Brick Wall in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the stone bricks

Place four stone in a 2×2 square on the crafting grid to make four stone bricks, or cut stone into stone bricks with a stonecutter.

  2. 2

    Craft the walls

Place six stone bricks in two horizontal rows on the crafting grid; one craft yields six Stone Brick Walls.

  3. 3

    Place the wall line

Set Stone Brick Wall blocks in a row; each wall connects automatically to adjacent walls, bars, and glass panes.

  4. 4

    Hold back mobs

The 1.5-block collision height stops mobs from jumping over a Stone Brick Wall that fills a single block of space.

  5. 5

    Break walls with a pickaxe

Break a Stone Brick Wall with any pickaxe, wooden tier or better; mining without a pickaxe drops nothing.

Mind the mob caveats

Skeletons shoot over a Stone Brick Wall and spiders climb across; fencing with walls still costs half as many blocks as a two-block-high solid barrier.
